World Book Day – Ladybugs 📚🐞

Ladybugs had a lovely day yesterday celebrating World Book Day 📚

We enjoyed reading lots of books including our book of the week Dear Zoo, which the children are now able to tell us most of the story 👍

We all made our own bookmarks to take home, some are in the pictures below 👇

We also had some messy play mark making, we used flour and some different tools to mark make our favourite book characters.

Everyone made an amazing effort to dress up in there favourite book characters, the children (and staff) looked amazing.

Well done ladybugs 🎉🐞

Ladybugs next story…📚🐞

Ladybug’s story after half term will be….

Dear Zoo! 🐵🦁🐸🦒🐫🐍

We have some lovely activities planned for the children when they come back, we can’t wait to share them all with you. We would love it if you could share the story with your children over half term and share any photos on evidence me. We can then share them and talk about them at circle time with their friends.

We hope you all have a lovely half term break, we will see you back on the 28th of February 🥰

Guess how much I Love You 🥰

This weeks story was Guess how much I love you. Ladybugs really enjoyed reading this book, and we’ve had lots of conversations about love and who we love.

Our activities this week have been reading the story, role play and acting it out. Playing in our sensory and number tuff tray. Making valentines biscuits and cards for people we love.

We have enjoyed every minute of celebrating valentines and being kind to each other.

Who are you spending half term with? What will you be up to? We would love for you to send us a little evidence me post with photos of what you have been up to 😊

Our story of the week is…🐰🥰

Ladybugs are going to be looking at ‘Guess how much I Love You’ 🐰🥰

We thought it would be a lovely story to share with the children with it being Valentines Day ❤️

Happy Valentines Day,

The Tiger who came to Tea 🐯

Ladybugs have really enjoyed the last two weeks focusing on our story, The Tiger who came to Tea.

We have been role playing our own tea parties, using the resources in the tuff tray, dressing up and using masks to play at being tigers 🐯

We even used our cooking session this week to make our own sandwiches for our tea party. We waited but the tiger didn’t arrive, however we did have a visit from Miss Cook. She came and joined in our Tea party and even read us the story while we ate our Tea Party Snacks 😋

The ladybugs children are fully embracing our story focuses so we are now looking at future stories lasting two weeks at a time. This enables us to truly encourage the children’s love of the stories and gives us more of an opportunity to plan amazing activities around them.

Look out on Monday for what our next story will be…🐰🥰

Chinese New Year🏮🐯🧧

This week Ladybugs have been celebrating Chinese New Year!

We have loved all the activities including making our own little lanterns, a big lantern which is on display for you all to see in the Ladybugs window 🏮

We also tried some Chinese foods for our snacks, which were delicious 😋

And we role played dressing up, dancing and being the dragon they use to celebrate in the street parades. 🐲🐉

We are carrying on with our story next week so we are still looking at ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’ 🐯

Have a lovely weekend,

Ladybugs Book of the Week is…🐯

Next week Ladybugs will be reading The Tiger that came to Tea 🐯☕️

As it is Chinese New Year and it is the year of the Tiger we thought this story would link really well. We will be reading the story all week, have many activities around Chinese New Year and the Tiger who came to Tea.

If you have the book at home we would love you to read it with your children, if not below is a PowerPoint of the story with some ideas of questions to ask your children. Please share any activities you might do around this or Chinese New Year with us on evidence me.

Water bottles 💧

A polite reminder that all children should be bringing in a water bottle to drink from, and should be filled with just water.

If a water bottle is forgotten we do have cups for them to have drinks at snack and lunch times.

Thank you,

Nursery Team 🌳🐞

We’re going on a Bear Hunt…🐻

As we said at the beginning of the week our book this week in Ladybugs has been ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’. The children have loved this story so much that we are going to continue with more activities next week.

Here are some photos of the activities we have done this week so far in Ladybugs. We’ve had different materials in our tuff tray to represent the different sections of the story, and dolls to role play with, we used a cardboard box to make our own cave and the children played the role of the bear. Throughout the week we’ve had mark making Bear Hunt pictures, collages and loads more.

We look forward to seeing any photos, videos or work you do at home with your children around the Bear Hunt 🐻

Have a lovely weekend and see you all next week,

Ladybugs Team 🐞
