This week in Maths the children are recapping number bonds to 10 and 20. The Hit The Button game is a fantastic way of practising rapid recall of these.
Today in Maths, the children looked at adding 10 to a number less than 100. At the end of the lesson we played a game on the whiteboard where the children applied what they had learned. Again, many children asked if they could play it at home. Here is the link for those who would like to play at home.
After receiving some feedback from parents about Times Tables Rockstars, we have decided that we will predominately use this later on in the year once the children are more familiar with multiplication and division. However, if your child is enjoying using this website then please continue to use it as a way to practise times tables.
Other websites you could use can be found on the link below:
We highly recommend the ‘Hit the Button’ game from the list. It is great for quick recall of number facts, including times tables.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Miss Newport and Miss Jones.
Today in Year 2, we looked at partitioning numbers into tens and units. e.g. 46 is made of 4 tens and 6 units or 40 + 6 = 46
We played a game which helped us with this. Some of the children asked if they could play this game at home. Here is the link for those children who would like to do some extra practise.
Look out for a ‘Proud Moment’ note in your child’s diary next week. As part of Autumn’s half term homework task, we are asking parents/grandparents etc, to record something that has made them proud of their child e.g. learnt how to tie their shoelaces, raised money for a charity race, helped to wash the dishes etc. If you have any photos of this, please upload them to the homework blog so that we can celebrate these moments too!
It has been a fantastic first week of Year 2 and we are very proud of how enthusiastic the children have been!
Have a lovely weekend!
