Newdale Nursery is part of Newdale Primary School and opened in September 2012 (previously Sure Starters Nursery).
The nursery is located at the front of the school and offers an ideal environment in which children may develop in safe nurturing surroundings. There are separate areas for younger toddlers (Ladybugs) and older toddlers (Little Acorns) and pre-school (Mighty Oaks), catering for children from two to five years of ages. There is a secure outside play area and on site parking accessed at certain times of the day.
We have the expertise of Newdale Primary’s Early Years Co-ordinator and teacher who plans our Pre-School Curriculum through the Foundation Stage and Early Learning Goals. We have an early years teacher in both morning and afternoon sessions.
The Nursery is Term Time only and opens at 7:45 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday each week . Exact dates are published in the nursery calendar each year. We close for 5 staff training days over the school year.
Nursery bookings are term time only for 3-4 year olds (Mighty Oaks), require sessions . Parent/carers can book children out of Nursery for 2 weeks of holiday and not receive a bill. We require 4 weeks notice of booked holiday. Should you wish to change or cancel your booked session, please note we require 4 weeks notice.
After school club
The nursery operates from 7.45am -6.00pm, Monday to Friday. From 3.20pm each day older children (usually up to 8 years old) join the nursery children until 6.00pm. A member of the nursery team is a familiar person to the nursery children.
Uniform is available to purchase, at Baker & Sons, on the High Street in Wellington.
We encourage the children to choose a book each week and share it with family members. We ask that each Monday or the first day of the week they attend to change their book. Please can parent’s sign books in and out as we keep a record of borrowed books.
P.E, Forest learning, drama and cooking sessions
On a Wednesday we are able to use the school hall for P.E and drama sessions, on these days we would ask for children wear comfortable clothing.
We also take part in Forest Learning sessions where the children are taken outside to a nature area where we carry out activities, we provide waterproofs but we need you to provide wellies, coats, gloves and scarfs.
Cooking sessions are done in the Nursery. Children experience these sessions on a rota and by the end of the year have experienced them all.
Arriving and collecting children from Nursery
Nursery session in a morning starts at 8.30am and ends 11.30am, and the afternoon session is 12.20pm – 3.20pm, we would ask you to wait outside the main entrance until the Nursery administrator opens the door. This is the same process for collecting your child, at the end of the session. We offer a breakfast club session 7.45am-8.30am.
We would ask you to make sure you speak to your child’s key person when dropping off and picking up your child to ensure the key person has acknowledged you and your child.
Toys and belongings
We would also like to ask that children keep their toys at home as we can not take responsibility for broken toys. However, we do appreciate that on occasion children may want to bring an item in to share with the group.
Children who are booked for lunch time can either bring in a packed lunch or you can book a cooked school dinner.
The cost of a school dinner is currently £2.20
The children have water with their lunch.
This must be booked and paid for one week in advance.
Please can you provide a change of clothes in a named draw string bag which can be left on your child’s peg as children participate in messy activities or may have an accident.
Please note the car park is only available to staff and disabled badge holders.
