Ice cream and lollipop sale to return again tomorrow!

Thank you to all of those people who bought a lollipop or ice cream at our sale after school today – we sold out of all 200 items!

Due to its popularity and the scorching temperatures forecast, we will be repeating the sale at the end of the school day tomorrow. Items will again be either 50p or £1. Please bring the exact change wherever possible.

Enjoy an end of half term treat whilst supporting us in fundraising for our fantastic Newdale children.

Thank you for your continued support.

Football kit day

Wednesday 3rd June we are asking children to come along in their football kits. If you don’t have these PE kits and similar wear will be fine. Trainers all week please.

Curriculum Governor Involvement

The Curriculum Governor Committee met on 13th May. Governors enjoyed a tour of the two‑year‑old provision and the pre‑school provision, noting that children were highly engaged and very well supported by the Nursery team. The environments were described as excellent and thoughtfully designed.

Governors then reviewed a random selection of home–school communication diaries. They observed strong engagement from home, either from the child (KS2) or the parent (KS1), and agreed that the time Teaching Assistants spend completing these diaries each day is a valuable use of time.

Anna Taylor (Nursery HLTA) attended the meeting with three EYPPG children, who demonstrated their maths learning. Governors were reassured that the strong foundations being built in Nursery will be highly beneficial as the children transition into Reception.

Governors requested that Science be the focus for the next meeting.

Finance and Personnel Committee Governors Involvement

The Finance and Personnel Governors convened on Thursday 7th May to review several important areas relating to the school’s ongoing development and future planning.

Governors examined the provisional staffing structure for the next academic year, giving particular attention to how it aligns with the increasing number of pupils with complex needs across the school. They also reviewed the financial implications of the proposed structure. As is the case for many schools nationally, Governors noted the growing challenge of delivering fully inclusive provision within budgets that do not reflect the true cost of meeting these needs.

The meeting continued with a review of the Headteacher’s appraisal targets and the progress made towards achieving them. Governors then spent time exploring the new Ofsted Toolkit, considering the guidance available and identifying the preparation required over the next 12 months.

Finally, Governors agreed that a small increase in fees for Nursery, Breakfast Club and After School Club was necessary in order to keep pace with rising inflationary costs

A huge welcome to our new Reception Class 26-27! 👋

A huge welcome to our new Reception Class 26-27! 👋

Many of our Mighty Oaks children have secured a space in our reception cohort for September 2026! We will also be welcoming a number of children from other nurseries across the community and can’t wait to meet you all and welcome you into Newdale.

We will be in touch shortly via letter and phone with information about starting school and transition information as we understand everyone will be getting excited about visiting their new classrooms, meeting staff and friends and buying new smart uniform ☺️.

Please keep an eye out for post and/or calls over the next couple of weeks as we organise dates and release information. We will be looking at ringing newcomers soon, visiting both children in Mighty Oaks and visiting community nurseries to meet the children and will offer a classroom experience in July for both children and parents.

We can’t wait to meet you all and are looking forward to starting your big school journey.

Any questions please ask.

See you all soon 👋

Crazy about mini beast

This week’s activities and lesson plan have focused on our wonderful “minibeasts” topic. We began by revisiting and recalling what we have previously learned, helping to strengthen the children’s understanding and confidence.

The children have enjoyed manipulating a wide range of materials to design and create their own insects. They explored pattern-making using natural resources such as leaves, sticks, and stones, as well as using recycled materials to build and mould imaginative minibeast models. These activities supported their creativity, fine motor skills, and problem-solving abilities while encouraging them to think about the features and characteristics of different insects.

Mini beast

Let’s talk fine motor skills, mark making, and all things curly-whirly! The Mighty Oaks children have been busy creating and crafting snails, while learning all about their habitats and the different parts of their bodies.
This week, we’ve flown across the pond to explore dragonflies, all while practicing and reinforcing our understanding of numbers 0-5 such a fun hands on way to learn.

Today’s evacuation

A massive well done to the entire team today at nursery who got all the children safely out of the building to a safe place so swiftly!
Your children were absolutely amazing under the circumstance, the parents and community helping were such a great support. ❤️🫶🏻
And on that note #anytimefitnesslawley and the #grazingcowlawley we couldn’t have felt any safer and more welcomed, so thank you to all their amazing staff too!
