PODS Parent & Care Session

Newdale are excited to be taking part in the PINs project this year and to welcome back PODS – the Parent Carer forum – for a follow up ‘Cake and Cuppa’ event in our school hall.

This is an informal opportunity to meet with the team and ask any questions about how PODS may be able to help you. The team can discuss neurodiversity and what support is available for your child, even without a diagnosis. Mr McFarland, SENDCO, will also be available to answer any questions.

This will take place in the school hall and you are then welcome to leave by 3.10pm to collect your child from their classes.

Please follow the link below to find out more information about PODS and the services they offer.

Home – Together We Can Make a Difference

The session will be held on the following date and time. Please confirm your attendance via Parent Pay.

Wednesday 19th November 2.30 – 3.30pm.

We will also be organising an after school information session linked to Autism and ADHD for parents in the Spring term.

EKO session

Welcome back. We hope you have all had a lovely half term break and ready for another exciting half term ahead!

Just a reminder that it is our EKO (Forest School) sessions this Wednesday (5th).

Please send your child in their forest school clothes and trainers. They can bring their wellies in a bag to change into when it is their session. As the weather is turning colder and wetter, please ensure your child is dressed in warm clothes and waterproof coats.

Thank you,

Year 3 team

Finance & Personnel Governors Involvement

The Finance and Personnel Governors met on the 23rd October. They looked carefully at school finances and paid attention to the 3 year projection plan that had been prepared by the school finance officer. Governors had a staffing update and could see how the rising numbers of complex needs was adding pressure to the budget over time. Governors reviewed the staff well being audit findings and looked forward to some of the staff who are currently on Maternity leave returning in January. They were reassured that these staff returning would relieve pressure across the school.

Homework over half term

As children have been given ‘Jumping orange words’ for their spellings, we give them an extra week over half term to practice, so please continue to encourage them as these words can be tricky. Children have been taught lots of fun ways to practice such as writing words in different shapes, colours and sizes to help them remember.

Please encourage your child to go on TTRS over the holidays. We currently have a battle between the two classes that ends on 7.11.25! Logins can be found in your child’s reading diary.

If you would like any additional resources to challenge your child over the break, BBC bitesize is always a fabulous start. Children have enjoyed playing ‘crystal explorers’ and I would always recommend ‘hit the button’.

Most importantly, we hope you all have a brilliant half term with whatever you may be doing.

Kind regards,

Year 3 Team :)

Halloween disco – 23.10.25

This Thursday, we will be having our Halloween disco in the afternoon. Due to the hall being used for the discos in the afternoon, we will be unable to do PE as normal, so please send your child in their school uniform.

They will be able to bring a Halloween costume in a bag to get changed into in the afternoon.

If you do not wish for your child to take part in the Halloween disco, please either write a message in your child’s diary or email.

Thank you,

Year 3 team

Next EKO session

We have our next EKO (forest school) session on Wednesday 5th November (first week after half term week).

The children will need to come to school in their outdoor clothes to save getting changed. Children will need:

  • Suitable old clothing e.g. T-shirt, jumper and trousers/leggings
  • A warm coat – this may get muddy
  • Wellies
  • Waterproofs – trousers and jacket
  • Old pair of warm trousers (if no waterproofs)
  • Spare trainers to change into after the session

Thank you,

Year 3 team

Monday 20th October

Just a reminder that we have our school photos on Monday. Please send your child in to school in their school uniform. They can bring their trainers in a bag to change into for PE.

Thanks,

Year 3 team

NSPCC PANTS workshop

We’re excited to let you know that our school will be hosting a PANTS workshop for parents/carers delivered by the NSPCC on Thursday 6th November from 2:30-3:00pm. This important session helps children understand the PANTS rules, which teaches them how to stay safe from abuse in a simple, age-appropriate way.

Before the workshop, children will take part in a PANTS-themed assembly, introducing them to the key messages in a fun and engaging way. Then, they’ll receive a very special visit from Pantosaurus, the NSPCC’s friendly dinosaur who helps make learning about safety memorable and enjoyable.

We’re also pleased to share that we’ll be launching more PANTS activities in January, continuing to build on the children’s understanding and confidence around this vital topic.

The workshop and follow-up activities are part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding and empowering our pupils with knowledge that helps keep them safe both in and out of school.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the PANTS campaign, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with school.

Please see below flyer attached for details regarding the workshop. If you would like to attend, please book a free place via ParentPay.
