Year 6 – Snow day activities

Good morning everyone,

Snow day! We hope you have a lovely day at home and are able to spend some time safely in the snow too. Below are some tasks we would like you to complete today in between your fun. These activities are all live on Google classroom for you too.
  • Access Read Theory/a read in your reading diary.
  • TTRS – remember we have a year 6 competition and the TTRS trophy this week!
  • Arithmetic practice via Maths bot – remember you can choose the type of questions you would like to practice more on. SATS – Key Stage 2 Arithmetic – Compact Version
If you would like to re-create our science experiment where we made blood and the different things found within it, you can find a link below. We would love to see your pictures if you do!
Lastly, as you know our Geography topic is Coasts. We would like you to pick a coastal area, such as Cromer in Norfolk, Southwold in Suffolk, or Fairbourne in Wales and create an information poster about it. You could do this on paper, or using the presentation slides on Google classroom.
  • Are they at risk of flooding?
  • What have they done to try to stop it?
  • What can people see and do in these places?
We would also love to see your snow pictures by sending them to the email below.

Tetrapak contributions

Dear Parents/Carers,

As part of Art Day on Friday 12th July, we will be printing using tetrapak cartons. There are orange juice or oat milk cartons which you may have at home. Could you please send any empty, clean containers in with your child as soon as possible.

Each child needs to bring in at least one tetrapak carton in order to complete their project.

Thank you for your support,

The Year 6 Team

Snow day – Year 6

Good morning Year 6!

As you will have seen, school is not open today. Instead, we will be posting tasks for you on Google Classroom. These will go live at 9am and your login will be in your reading diary. Please feel free to access Read Theory and TTRS as well – we have set up a battle in Year 6 from 8.30am to 3.10pm today!

If you have any issues accessing, please let us know via newdale.year6team@taw.org.uk

We would love to see some pictures of what you get up to as well!

Enjoy your day and make the most of the snow!

Mr McFarland and Miss Jones.

Year 6 Thursday afternoon

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your cooperation this afternoon.

At home, the children can continue to work on their homework (we have given them their homework for next week as well). They could also access TTRS and Read Theory.

Below is a website which is great for the children to practice their Arithmetic. It will automatically mark and generate a score for the children.

Thank you,

The Year 6 team.

Arthog Reminders

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our visit to Arthog is fast approach and we hope your child is looking forward to it as much as we are!

Please can all year 6 children arrive at the assembly hall doors on Monday 10th October at the usual time. Staff will be at the main school gates for the children to leave their luggage rather than bring it up to school. Please try to avoid blocking any main paths with the luggage.

A polite reminder that all medication and the £10 tuck shop money should be handed into the school office by this Friday (7th October), unless essential medication is needed over the weekend.

Please ensure children bring a packed lunch with them on Monday as this will not be provided and they will be able to eat once we arrive at Arthog, before starting their activities.

If your child gets travel sick, we recommend they have an anti-sickness tablet before school and bring a plastic bag with them, should they need it. We will ensure any child prone to travel sickness is sat at the front with staff and a friend.

We will keep you updated via the school website regarding our arrival time on Friday 14th, but we aim to be back in school for 3.10pm, however this may change depending on traffic.

Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

Mr McFarland and Miss Jones.

Year 6 Nature Walk

Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 6 will be going on their nature walk next Wednesday, 14th September as part of our new science topic – Living things and their habitats.

Please ensure your child comes to school with weather appropriate clothing and footwear and a hat if the weather is warm, as they will be changing into this after lunch time.

Thank you,

Miss Jones and Mr McFarland.
