4 months ago Posted on 02nd Feb 2026 by Mrs Evans Year 1 Sculptures This half term we have been learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy. He is an outdoor artist who likes making sculptures using natural materials. A lot of his artwork is made up of spirals and circles. Today we made our own snail using clay which was inspired by his work.
4 months ago Posted on 20th Jan 2026 by Mrs Evans Year 1 Numbots Today we have had lots of fun learning how to use Numbots. NumBots is all about every child achieving the “triple win” of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating. NumBots adopts the best teaching practises to take children from counting on their fingers, to adding and subtracting two digit numbers. NumBots is available to play via our website or mobile app, so your child will be able to learn maths at home or on-the-go, whenever suits your family. Your Child’s log in details have been sent home on a letter and they are also treasury tagged onto their reading diaries too. We hope you enjoy using this website to develop your child’s confidence in Maths. You can access Numbots here: https://play.numbots.com/#/account/school-login/54290 The Year 1 Team Numbots slip for Maths Books

5 months ago Posted on 16th Dec 2025 by Mrs Evans Year 1 Polar Express Trip Wow what a trip! We all had the best time together getting into the Christmas Spirit. It was a pleasure to take your well behaved children on such a magical trip and they loved every minute. I keep hearing the bells and know it is certainly because ‘We Believe’. A huge thank you to all the parents and our class Teaching Assistants today for supporting us on the trip, it would not have been possible without you all. Pretty sure all of the little cherubs will be tucked up fast asleep now, dreaming of Christmas. Here are a few memories of our adventure. I apologise for the quality!! It is a good job I am not a photographer for a living!!!! On behalf of Mrs Sturrock and myself. We hope you have a fantastic Christmas and New Year and well done for completing a whole term in Year 1 . We are so proud of you. Mrs Evans IMG_6201[1]
