Welcome to the Year 1 class page! Here you will find information about what your child is learning about over the year.

What My Child is Learning About this Half Term

PE and Outdoor learning

In Year 1, we have PE on Monday and Friday . Please ensure your child comes to school dressed in the correct PE kit on these days. In the summer term we try to keep PE outdoors as much as possible.

This half term Forest School is on a Thursday.  Please send your child with appropriate forest school kit to change into if we need to.

Spellings

The Jumping Orange Words are listed above for each half term.

Maths 

By the end of Year 1, your child is expected to know:

– the number bonds which make 5, 10 and 20

– one more and one less for numbers up to 100

– reading and writing numbers as numerals to 100 and words to 20

– doubles and halves to 20

– how to count in 2s, 5s and 10s

To support with this, there are many online games your child could play. We recommend:

Year 1 Numbot Launch

Numbots Launch

Today we have had lots of fun learning how to use Numbots.  NumBots is all about every child achieving the “triple win” of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating. NumBots adopts the best teaching practises to take children from counting on their fingers, to adding and subtracting two digit numbers. NumBots is available to play via our website or mobile app, so your child will be able to learn maths at home or on-the-go, whenever suits your family. We hope you enjoy using this website to develop your child’s confidence in Maths. Each of the children has been issued with their own username and password to enable them to log in. Teachers will be checking to see how you all get on.

Jumping Orange Words
