This week, Newdale has celebrated British Science Week with a flurry of activities linked to the theme of “Change and Adaptation.” Classes have explored animal habitats by designing zoos on Minecraft, researched adaptation in different biomes and even explored what is suitable to flush down the loo! Children of all ages have worked scientifically to research and present their own posters. They explored topics as broad as technological change, ocean currents and organism growth. We are so proud of all those who completed extra Science investigations at home too. Well done Newdale!

‘Scientists’ of the week:
To further celebrate British Science Week, we celebrated our super ‘scientists’ from each class:
Year 6 achievers: Toby for his enthusiasm during our science lessons this week and the effort he put in to creating a poster all about animals and how they have adapted to their environments. Oisin for his improved focus and concentration during lessons this week, especially science.
Year 5 achievers: Kian for working hard through our Science lessons this week and being an all-round pleasure to have in the classroom. Riley for excellent understanding and presentation of results during our science experiment this week.
Year 4 achievers: Mr Banfield’s scientist was chosen for enthusiasm and curiosity throughout British Science Week. He impressed by asking questions and proposing tests before sharing his results with the class confidently. Iris for a super Science investigation (rain cloud in a jar) at home and excellent work on classification of living things this half term.
Year 3 achievers: Louie for fantastic research into animal adaptations during science week and linking it to his learning during the animal man visit. Marie for her fabulous research into animal adaptations, and producing a lovely poster on how Bees have adapted to survive.
Year 2 achievers: Daniel for improving across all areas of his learning, his fantastic attitude to learning and his wonderful kindness to others during science week. He gave fantastic explanations and support to his peers. Muna for demonstrating great scientific knowledge throughout the week and creating a wonderful poster about how plants change over time.
Year 1 achievers: Miss Fisher’s achiever was chosen for her wonderful seasons poster for Spring. She put lots of effort into it and we are very proud! Daria for super Science week activities and making a fantastic Springtime seasons poster.
Year R achievers: Emily for her independent creation of a creature inspired by the Mixed-Up Chameleon. Lucas for a wonderful week, creating a fantastic model for science week and for being helpful.
