Outdoor Learning

Outdoor Learning is led by Mrs Pablos

At Newdale, we are passionate that our children experience the holistic nature of learning in outdo

or environments. Our unique setting with both a forest school and base camp area allows pupils to build self-esteem, confidence and foster a natural curiosity in the world around them.

Upon entering Nursery, children start to build meaningful relationships with n

ature. They value and reflect on these experiences as they continue their journey throughout their school life.

Outdoor learning naturally supports cross curricular learning and enhances other aspects of the national curriculum. Wherever possible activities are planned to support topics and the national curriculum as well as to ensure skills progression in tool use, environmental knowledge, wild cooking and more.

Outdoor learning activities aim to encourage exposure to managed risk, use of imagination, exploration, asking questions and sharing thoughts, ideas and feelings.

All children from Nursery, Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 participate in outdoor sessions on a rotation process throughout the year, in our forest school and base camp area.

Please visit your child’s class page to see updates on what they have been up to in Forest School.

Photos

These photos show how eager the children are to explore our outdoor environments and how captivated they are when they discover they have achieved a new skill and learnt something new about nature.
