Y4 Home Learning

Hi Year 4 children and parents,

Mr Jackson and I have begun to set work on Purple Mash for you to start to complete as and when.

Suggested ideas for this week:

  • Read to yourself or an adult and record in your reading diary.
  • Practise your times tables. This could be by singing some of the songs, going on Super Movers or going on Times Table Rockstars
  • Complete writing-based tasks on Purple Mash/ or use Pobble365 for some inspiration
  • Make a branching data base on purple mash
  • Take part on Joe Wicks’ Daily PE lessons on YouTube

Life skills activities:

  • cooking (whilst supervised by an adult)
  • Practising telling the time
  • Practising tying shoes laces (if you haven’t quite mastered this already)

A bit of fun:

  • Dance to the Danger Mouse Supermovers dance
  • Watch one of your parent’s favourite cartoons/TV shows as a child on YouTube. For children in my class, it could be that you watch an episode of Brum as I know how much you love that show! It’s one of my favourites from childhood! Another favourite of mine was The Racoons.

Please note that these are just suggestions. Please remember to look at the information sheet we provided for other ideas to support your learning.

One last thing- if you’d like to post pictures to our homework blog of your child cooking, helping you with jobs, completing work or just simply enjoying themselves, we’d love to see them!

Keep well and keep safe,

Miss Macfarlane and Mr Jackson

Year 4 Home Learning

Please see the PDF attachment for ways to support your child with their learning at home. We will be updating you regularly on the school website. A paper copy will also be sent home with your child today. We will also share this with children in class today and show them how to use the emailing system.

Y4 Swimming- Important Notice

Currently, the Year 5’s have been attending swimming sessions this term on a Tuesday. On Tuesday 17th March 2020, the Year 5’s will be attending a performance and will be unable to attend swimming on this day. As a one-off session this half term, Year 4 will be going swimming on this day. The session will be a chance for teachers to assess your child’s swimming ability in preparation for when their sessions start after Easter.

Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit, including a towel, on Tuesday 17th March. We will be going swimming in the afternoon but will be back by home time.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with your child’s teacher.

Many thanks

Miss Macfarlane and Mr Jackson.

Please see below dates for my Times Table Club this half term. Please note that two dates have had to be changed to a Tuesday after school due to other commitments, which cannot be rearranged. Apologies if this mean that your child cannot attend one of those sessions.

Thursday 12th March 2020

Thursday 19th March- No club due to Parents’ Evening Week

Tuesday 24th March 2020

Tuesday 31st March 2020

Please note that these date changes are just for my club. Mr Jackson’s class will still have their Times Table Club each Thursday (apart from 19th March).

Thanks

Miss Macfarlane
