Make Your Own Playdough Recipe

Good afternoon all! Although I have aimed this at nursery, I think all families may like to have a go!

Today, I have recorded an easy step by step playdough recipe using ingredients you may well have at home. Have a little look at the video below and see if you can make your own! I find making playdough with the children almost as fun as playing with it.

Please take extra care when using hot water – grown ups to do this bit.

The ingredients you will need are as follows:

1 cup flour

1/4 cup salt

3/4 cup of (hot) water

3 tablespoons lemon juice (this is substituted cream of tartar)

1 tablespoon sunflower oil

Food colouring (optional)

You may need to add more flour once your playdough has been mixed. Keep kneading until you get to a soft texture. You can also add scents such as conditioner/vanilla essence etc to create a nice smell.

I have also attached some playdough mats you can use once your playdough is ready and cooled down (if you have polly pockets you can pop them inside).

If you do not have access to playdough tools, how about using children’s toys. Small world figures such as dinosaurs make fabulous prints!

You could also use the playdough for letter or number activities. Let your imagination take over!

I hope you have found this useful. Take care

Information for the parents of children with SEND

Please see the following message from Vicky Ford MP for the parents of children with SEND, particularly those that have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP).

As ever, the document is asking Parents to consider whether their child’s needs can be met at home safely. This is to keep as many children as possible at home during this time to help reduce the transmission rates of Covid 19.

Nursery Activities for Wednesday 25th March

Good morning nursery,

Please see attached today’s activities for you to use if you wish. We appreciate that some may not have access to a garden at this time so please adapt to your house. One idea could be to use a different area to your usual play space. Let’s try and make the most of this lovely weather where possible, even if it is just with your windows open.

Nursery

Good morning to all our nursery friends. Some of you may or may not remember me. My name is Mrs Cleobury and I am based in the nursery. I have just returned from my maternity leave and ready to support you with activities to do at home with your child/children.

I am one of the social media buddies and will be posting when I can(along with other staff members), using the website and our Newdale Nursery Facebook page. Our aim is to keep our little Newdalers and parents/carers topped up with fun suggestions and resources for you to do and use at home if you wish.

Children in Early Years also learn through play, so choosing and exploring their own ideas is certainly encouraged.

A suggested routine has already been posted (please see below) and we are now working hard to gather some helpful resources. In the meantime, our first activity has been posted by Mrs Curnow below for you to follow if you would like.

Kind regards, Mrs Cleobury.
