At Newdale Primary School, we value the views of all children and believe that every pupil should have opportunities to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings about school. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), are listened to and supported to express their views in ways that work best for them.
How we listen to our pupils
Pupil Questionnaires and Surveys
Throughout the year, children are invited to share their views about school through pupil voice sessions.
- All pupils, including those with SEND, are encouraged to take part.
- Questions can be adapted, simplified or supported with visuals where needed.
- Feedback from pupils helps us improve our provision and school environment.
SEND Pupil Voice
The SENDCO regularly gathers the views of children with SEND to ensure their voices are central to the support they receive.
This may include discussions about:
- What helps them learn best.
- Any difficulties they are experiencing in school.
- Their likes, interests and strengths.
- Targets and support strategies.
- Friendships, wellbeing and feelings about school
School Parliament
Our School Parliament provides children with regular opportunities to contribute to school life.
- Each class nominates representatives each year.
- The process is open to all pupils and designed to be inclusive.
- Teachers monitor participation to ensure all children have opportunities to be involved during their time at Newdale.
- Representatives meet regularly with members of the pastoral team to discuss ideas, suggestions and school improvement.
- School Parliament members also help to lead assemblies and share pupil views with staff.
Pupil views are considered when planning support, reviewing progress and making decisions about SEND provision.
