🌟🌟 Achievers of the Week 🌟🌟

Friday 11th October 2024

This week, Year 2 had a wonderful time on their trip to WILD! Despite the down pours of rain, the children loved the animal show and the jaw dropping dinosaur show with an incredibly, huge dinosaur that walked around and came up close to the audience. Year 5 had a lovely time yesterday afternoon on their Nature Walk where they observed many attributes of our local area. They looked at many aspects including: the seasonal changes we could identify, Earth bound features and systems and the variety of settlements in our changing area.

This week, we also want to say a huge thank you to all of our families who have been able to donate to our Harvest collection. The photo below shows a few of our Fundraising Committee members with just some of the donations we have received. Our Harvest collection is going to a local food bank next week and we know will be so important in supporting many families in our local area.  Thank you.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you back in school on Monday! 😊

House Points 🏆

At Newdale, one of the ways our pupils are rewarded for their efforts, in work and behaviour, is house points. Each pupil belongs to 1 of 4 houses; Wenlock, Wrekin, Severn and Ironbridge. This year, the house team with the highest number of house points at the end of each half-term, will earn a special house celebration (full of lots of fun games and activities). Each week, we share the running totals in assembly but as we are now half way through the half-term, we thought we would share them with our wider community too. 3 more weeks to go and there’s only 10 house points between first and fourth… it is still all to play for!

Will you earn a house point for your team next week?

Year 4 – Times Tables Update

Year 4 – Half-Term Times Tables Practice

As you will all be aware, all Year 4s complete a Multiplication Times Table Check to ensure that they can recall their times tables facts accurately and at speed. We are so proud of our Year 4 pupils because they have all made excellent progress and the adults at school sometimes struggle to keep up with the speed at which they can recall their times tables!

The Multiplication Times Table Check is shortly after the half-term break (week commencing Monday 10th June). To ensure that our pupils keep up with their speedy recall, we have set an Ultimate Battle of the Bands between the two Year 4 classes. The winning class will receive a prize in the first week back!

In addition to this, please encourage times table games within your household (this may be testing each other on a mixture of times table questions, writing the multiples of a number out on paper and racing to splat the correct answer to a question, writing times tables facts onto the patio with chalks etc.). Please speak to your child’s class teachers if you would like some more inspiration for fun times table practise.

Please also use the following website to practise recall and experience what the real Multiplication check will feel like.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Year 4 Team
