Online Safety Top Tip – Red Nose Day!

If you need more support or guidance with online safety please contact a staff member or send us an email newdale.primary@taw.org.uk

Year 1 – additional PE

Due to a change in the timetable, Year 1 have been offered an additional PE slot tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit and brings their wellies for forest school in a separate bag.

Sorry for the late notice – don’t worry if your child is unable to come in their kit!

Please help us to spread the word to parents of children in Year 1.

Many thanks.

Online safety Top Tip – Whatsapp

Do your children use Whatsapp?

WhatsApp is the world’s most popular messaging service, with around two billion users exchanging texts, photos, videos and documents, as well as making voice and video calls. Its end-to-end encryption means messages can only be viewed by the sender and any recipients: not even WhatsApp can read them.  In the guide below, you’ll find tips on a number of potential risks such as scams, strangers and location sharing.

World Book Day – Miss Newport’s class

We have had a lovely day doing a range of book related activities. All of the children look fantastic in their costumes and could talk about the book they are from. Happy World Book Day!

World book day 2022

We have enjoyed participating in World Book Day today.

Year 1 Phonics Screening Check – future materials

Our school has been selected by the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) to be part of the nationally representative sample of schools that will trial future materials for the phonics screening check with pupils in Year 1.

The trial will take place during the period 13-24 June 2022 with a random sample of 20 Year 1 children, who will be selected by the STA. Similar to the usual phonics screening check, it will take approximately 10 minutes to trial the check materials with each sampled pupil and the check will be administered on a one-to-one basis by the child’s class teacher.

For more information please see this parent information leaflet.

Kind regards,

The Year 1 Team.
