Out of this world

Melisa has been really busy preparing for Space learning next half term. We can’t wait to look back at her project to help us learn more about the Solar System.

Newdale Express

Year 5 would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Morrow for sorting out a lovely afternoon of treats based on The Polar Express. We enjoyed plenty of biscuits, candy canes and hot chocolate. It’s a good job we had an extra playtime this morning!

Christmas Visitors

We were so lucky to be visited by Mr and Mrs Claus today. The children enjoyed a lovely story all about Christmas in Telford. The children were all on their best behaviour to stay off the naughty list!

Thank you so much for dropping in to our super school Mr and Mrs Claus!

Spellings for the final week of term

This week, we will assess the children on the Jumping Orange words which they have had plenty of time to practise.

For homework, we would like each child to keep a moon diary which will take moments each day. Everyday, at the same chosen time, we would like the children to look up at the moon and draw it onto the sheet. If the weather is cloudy, then simply draw clouds! Hopefully they will begin to notice that the moon is ever changing. Week 7 jumping orange

Should your child wish to continue their investigation of the moon, they could produce a fact file or poster showing off their own research.

Here are a few good starting points for research:

Elf Portraits

This afternoon, we have used guide lines to create self portraits which are in proportion. The finished articles will become super decorations.

For those self-isolating

In order to allow your child to continue to make solid progress at home, Year 5 will be adding work onto the Google Classroom for your child to complete.

To log onto Classroom, you simply need to visit classroom.google.com and enter the email address in the format firstname.lastname@taw.org.uk with the password which is in the reading diary (the same one as for the Chromebooks). Set work will be under the “Classwork” section under “self-isolation.”

If you have any questions, please feel free to email newdale.year5team@taw.org.uk and we will try our best to support further.

Thank you,

Year 5

Accessing Google Classroom from home

Please see the help guide of how to log into Classroom from devices at home. Children must ensure that they type the whole email address e.g. firstname.lastname@taw.org.uk

If these instructions do not work, on your sear4ch engine simply type in Google Classroom, hit the top link and then find the “Sign In” button in the top right corner.

Once on Classroom, the task is on the “Classwork” section, under Homework.
