Jubilee in Reception 👑

We have had a great week learning about our Queen and the upcoming Jubilee. See our photos of the lovely arts and crafts we have completed these week, along with celebrations from our Jubilee day yesterday. We had a street party lunch, a party in the afternoon and even George our class bear had a royal makeover. He was joined by a friendly Corgi for the day.
Have a wonderful holiday.

Jubilee celebrations

Reception have been learning about the Queen today. What fun facts can you remember?
We are all set to join in the celebrations tomorrow. Look at our amazing Jubilee art inspired by both the Queen and the artist Mondrian.

Please remember children are invited to come in dress down clothes with a red, white and blue theme!

Music in YR 🎶

Today we had a wonderful music lesson with Mr Wilcox. He taught us all about how to create a beat using the wooden claves. We even made a beat in time to our voices. Can you make a beat in time at home?

Art Club 🎨

Art Club
Miss Cook visited our EYFS/Y1 art club last week and challenged us to create something using clay this week. The children have enjoyed using clay to make some beautiful crown decorations in the spirit of the upcoming Jubilee celebration. We will of course send them home when they have dried.
Here is a peek…
We hope we didn’t scare you too much last week with our folding monster pictures. We tried to make them as cute as possible to fool you, only to reveal a hideous beast lurking underneath!

Kandinsky Art in Reception

This week we revisited our learning about the artist Kandinsky. We remembered so many facts that Miss Hailey was so proud of us. Here are some examples of the facts we remembered:

” Kandinsky was a teacher. He didn’t want to be a teacher anymore. He wanted to do a different job. He wanted to be an artist.” – Harry

”He was abstract. That means different things from his imagination.” – Jack

”He painted circles.” – Elena

“He used bright and dark colours.” – Alex

”Kandinsky used paints. He makes pictures of his music.” – Primrose

”Kandinsky lived in Russia.” – Joe

”He used paints to paint shapes.” – Jomi

”Kandinsky painted his own stuff, made up things his head.” – Louie

Here is a display of our class  masterpiece! We made Kandinsky inspired snails 🐌. Check your Evidence Me app for photos of your own child paining their snails.

Reception Dino Day 2022 🦖

What a fantastic day in Reception today to mark the end of our Dinosaur topic.
We had great fun reading dinosaur stories, making dinosaur skeleton pictures, making binoculars, role playing in our costumes, playing dinosaur games and best of all meeting a gigantic T-Rex 🦖 who decided to invade our PE lesson!
Thank you to all for the wonderful costumes provided. They really brought the day to life.

Reception Star of the Week 💫

Well done to Jessica for being this week’s star in our class. You have continually worked really hard and it shows in the great progress you are making. Your reading has come on leaps and bounds and we can’t fail to see what a great artist you are.
