Welcome Reception Class 2021!

We are really looking forward to meeting you all next week for your first ever week in big school. We can’t wait to meet you all and get to know you.

We are so proud already of how brave you will all be coming in to your new classes. We know parents will be keen to see your classroom and we will let you know when we can invite you in to see your new environment.

A reminder that for the first week only, you will have been allocated either a morning or afternoon session. From the second week, you will stay for the whole day and enjoy your first school lunch together.

PE days for Reception are on a Wednesday and a Thursday and you can come dressed in your smart PE kits on those days. We will send further info about Forest Schools later in the week.

Attached to the end of this message is a reminder of Reception Class Information and things you will need for school. We have also attached an overview of our curriculum and the things your child will be learning about this term.

We will be sending home our ‘Home School Communication and Reading Diary’ in the first week. However, if you have any queries, then please do email us directly on our year group email newdale.yearrteam@taw.org.uk

Farewell Reception

Hello Reception,

We would like to say a massive well done for a wonderful first year in school. You have made us exceptionally proud this year, working hard every single day, whether that be in school or at home. We will miss you very much, but you are more than ready to move on to Year 1 and learn lots of new, wonderful things.

Have a happy, fun-filled, safe holiday and we look forward to seeing you next year. We will be sure to pop in and say hello to see how you are getting on.

Year Reception Show and Tell

For the last day in Reception (Tuesday 20th July ), we would like to invite you to bring in 1 toy to take part in this years very last show and tell.

We know how much you love show and tell and couldn’t think of a better way to end the year. We love hearing about your precious things and about all the things that make you special.

Please make sure your precious toy is clearly labelled with your name so that we can ensure they go home safely with you for the holidays.

Career Week in Reception

Reception enjoyed a very special visitor yesterday. We had a zoo keeper from Hoo Zoo in to tell us all about her duties in caring for the animals. She brought along a very big snake as her special guest. 🐍 He was very well behaved, though it was very funny how he liked to rest on her head!

Art Day 🎨

Reception loved art day today. They each contributed to a joint masterpiece by creating leaves and bark in the style of Kandinsky! We learnt how to make shades of the same colour using white and black to lighten or darken the colour.
We will use these to create one joint display based on our book that we have been reading in class recently, ‘Monkey Puzzle’. We will reveal the final piece soon. In the meantime, here are some photos of the children hard at work painting, cutting, sticking and having fun.

Music in Reception 🎶

We were so lucky today to have a music session with Mr Wilcox! We learnt all about tunes and beats. We had a go at rapping and then singing our new Number bond song. We will stick these in our reading diaries today so they can teach you at home.
some children were even brave enough to try a solo in front of the whole class…

A massive well done to all of Reception for their first sports day! No tears, minimal nerves and lots of positive attitudes to give races a go! We couldn’t be prouder.
