World Book Day in Mrs Arthurs’ Class

We have had a lovely morning voting for our favourite potato book characters! There were some absolutely AMAZING entries; thank you for all your hard work. We have also drawn our favourite book covers. Well done year 6!

Year 6 Trip to Shrewsbury Prison Museum

Year 6 visited Shrewsbury Prison Museum to look at Crime and Punishment during the Victorian era. We looked at punishments such as hard labour and capital punishment and discussed how these were meant to be a deterrent. We also looked into cells and compared them from the Victorian era through to the modern day. Year 6 could really feel the atmosphere of the prison as we had our tour.

Time To Talk – Year 1 and Year 6

Year 6 had a wonderful time meeting Year 1! We shared our Maths and History books and discussed what we have been learning about.

Year 6 Spring Term

There will be changes to PE days for the Spring Term.

Tuesday afternoon – athletics (outdoor)
Friday afternoon – Crossbar (outdoor)

Please remember to wear correct PE kit. A reminder that on the first week back Mrs Arthurs’ class will have their swimming assessment on the Tuesday afternoon and will need to bring their swimming kit. We require your consent to take children and this can be found on ParentPay.

Please also consult ParentPay regarding our planned trip to Shrewsbury Prison on 29th January.

Homework has been stuck in today, but this is for the first week back and does not need to be completed over the holiday.

The whole Year 6 team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Year 6 Christmas Craft

Thank you to everyone who attended the Year 6 Christmas Craft afternoon. Year 6 really enjoyed sharing their Christmas cards and stockings with you.

Music

We have thoroughly enjoyed out Telford and Wrekin music lessons and learning how to play the Toots. We created our own compositions and then performed them. The progress within Year 6 and playing tricky pieces such as Rigadoon was fantastic to see!

EKO Day

Year 6 were very lucky to have smores during EKO day. We talked about fire safety and the fire triangle and were reminded about the importance of behaving safely around fires.

Year 6 Sewing Christmas Stockings

Over the past few weeks, year 6 have designed and made their own Christmas stockings. We have looked at a variety of different types of stitch: running stitch, blanket and overstitch. Year 6 have shown amazing perseverance and their stockings are really taking shape.

Silent Disco

This afternoon, Year 6 had their silent disco. We turned off the lights and had fun dancing with our headphones on.

EKO DAY YEAR 6

Good evening,

A reminder that year 6 have their final EKO day of 2025 tomorrow. Due to the unpredictable weather, please ensure that your children are appropriately dressed with a change of footwear (wellies or old trainers) in case of rain. They are also welcome to wear their Christmas jumper as it is Christmas dinner day.

Thank you,

The Year 6 Team
