Year 6 Parents’ Evening

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Year 6 Parents’ Evening slips were sent out last week. If you have not already, please return the slip with your desired time and we will accommodate this as far as possible. Slots are booking up quickly.

Kind regards,

The Year 6 Team

EKO Day

We worked with the charity EKO to discuss decomposition and how long it takes for everyday objects to break down. We had lots of fun creating a timeline and we learned that it takes 450 years for a nappy to decompose! We also used hack saws to cut bamboo and create bug hotels.

Making Clay Tiles

We spent many weeks designing, experimenting and then creating our clay tiles using a variety of techniques such as: coiling, slabbing and incising.

French

We have been learning how to speak about where we live: Oú habites-tu?

Year 6 were able to give simple instructions to guide each other around town.

EKO Day

Year 6 enjoyed working with the charity EKO to enrich our science learning. We looked around basecamp to find living things and classified them into different groups.

Music: Toots

Year 6 have been learning how to play the toots. We have been looking at how to correctly position our hands to reach notes. We have been looking at the notes B, A and G and have focussed on our articulation.

Amazing Attendance

Well done for all of the amazing attendance awards in Year 5!

Carding Mill Valley

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Our trip to Carding Mill Valley is next week on Wednesday 16th July. Children will need to be appropriately dressed for lots of walking and our river activities. We would like everyone to wear their PE kit due to the forecasted hot weather. They will also need comfortable footwear (trainers). As we will be standing in shallow parts of the river, they will also need to bring long wellington boots in their bags along with their lunch. As it will be hot, please also remember plenty of water, sun cream and a hat.

If you have not yet consented to the trip, please do so as soon as possible.

Please discuss any issues with your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

The Year 5 Team
