Year 6 had a blast with the rest of the school on our colour run. There was lots of multi-coloured hair and clothing by the end.

Healthy Lifestyles Week

Loudmouth Production: Screen Time

Years 5 and 6 took part in watching a drama performance called ‘Screen Time’ this morning. They were shown how to use smart phones responsibly and given valuable information about what data is and how it used when online. The performance explained the impact of data on algorithms and then began to explore more sensitive topics such as dis- and misinformation and how to deal with unkind comments from others when online. The performance and workshops expressed the importance of sharing any worries with trusted adults and explained the reason behind age restrictions on certain apps.

Disinformation: is false, inaccurate, or misleading information that is deliberately created and spread with the intention to deceive.
Misinformation: Misinformation is false, inaccurate, or misleading information that is spread by mistake, without the intent to deceive or cause harm.

Charles Darwin Fact Files

Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed creating fact files about Charles Darwin for our topic about evolution. They have independently researched and written about his life and important discoveries. Year 6 took great pride in their presentation to create some fantastic written pieces.

Welcome Back Year 6

We hope you and your family enjoyed a lovely Easter break. Year 6 have another busy half term ahead of us with lots of exciting activities planned as well as our SATs the week commencing 11th May.

PE lessons will remain on the same days: Tuesdays (gymnastics indoors) and Fridays (tennis outdoors) during Summer 1. Please remember to send your child with a water bottle every day and ensure that children are wearing correct uniform.

See you back in class on Monday 13th April!

Newdale’s Got Talent in Year 6

On Wednesday 11th March, year 6 will have the opportunity to audition (if they would like to) for Newdale’s Got Talent. We would like the children to come prepared with their act already finalised so that they can perform for their peers. The children will then vote for the act that they would like to put forward into the quarter finals.

Please note, the acts need to be able to be performed on the stage in the school hall for the final performance. The children will need to bring in any accessories/ equipment that they require (within reason). Please speak to class teachers if unsure.

Due to auditions, the nature walk has been postponed. We will re-schedule this for later in the term.

Kind regards,

Year 6 Team

World Book Day in Mrs Arthurs’ Class

We have had a lovely morning voting for our favourite potato book characters! There were some absolutely AMAZING entries; thank you for all your hard work. We have also drawn our favourite book covers. Well done year 6!

Year 6 Trip to Shrewsbury Prison Museum

Year 6 visited Shrewsbury Prison Museum to look at Crime and Punishment during the Victorian era. We looked at punishments such as hard labour and capital punishment and discussed how these were meant to be a deterrent. We also looked into cells and compared them from the Victorian era through to the modern day. Year 6 could really feel the atmosphere of the prison as we had our tour.
