Time to Talk

Today we had lots of fun chatting to our friends in Year 4. We shared our Geography and Computing books together and talked about our fun lessons in school.

Year 1 Nature Walk

So much fun enjoying our Spring Nature Walk in the sunshine.

Toys in school

We have noticed that children are starting to bring toys into school and have been hiding them in their book bag. We politely ask that the children leave toys at home as we would hate for them to get lost or broken. Many thanks the Year 1 Team

Eatwell Project

Today we took part in ‘The Eatwell Project’. We had lots of fun learning about different types of vegetables. We then discussed if we liked the smell, feel and taste of them. We were then taught why we must try to have Five A Day and the importance of vitamins and minerals in our body.

Clay Sculptures

This week we will be sending home the clay sculptures the children have made in class. This half term we have been studying the artist ‘Andy Goldsworthy’ who is famous for his sculptures that have been created from natural materials. They clay we use in school is air drying clay and will usually be solid within 72 hours. We hope the children love telling you about their creations.

Our Special Books

Today in RE we have been learning about the Guru Granth Sahib. This is the special holy scripture for Sikh’s. Today we have shared our own special books in class.

Art

This half term we have been learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy. He is famous for making sculptures out of natural objects. During this art lesson we explored how to create spirals and used the clay tools to shape and mould the play doh.

Year 1 Numbot Launch

Numbots Launch

Today we have had lots of fun learning how to use Numbots.  NumBots is all about every child achieving the “triple win” of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating. NumBots adopts the best teaching practises to take children from counting on their fingers, to adding and subtracting two digit numbers. NumBots is available to play via our website or mobile app, so your child will be able to learn maths at home or on-the-go, whenever suits your family. We hope you enjoy using this website to develop your child’s confidence in Maths. Each of the children has been issued with their own username and password to enable them to log in. Teachers will be checking to see how you all get on.
