Room on the broom and Halloween party 🎃👻

Witches cackle, ghost boo, a Happy Halloween to you!🎃
This week has been spooktacular, from reading and role playing the story book, ‘ Room on the broom ‘ to making potions and casting spells. 🧪
Helping the witch in the woods to make a broom and making Halloween jewellery.
Our Halloween party was so much fun, with dancing games and party food. Then some spider target games and trick or treat bug tasting. Ewwww 🤢
Hope you all have a wonderful break
See you soon 👻

Put these dates on your calendars! Even the big man himself is getting ready 🎅🏼🎄

Supertato to the rescue with the some mini little hero’s

Mwah ha ha ha ha, I’ve escaped! 🫛Oh no, evil pea is on the loose in nursery, but who’s that?…… Supertato to the rescue !💥 🥔

What an adventurous week the children have had this week in Mighty Oaks 🌳
We’ve been reading a few books from the series of ‘ Supertato’ all about the brave potato that rescues his friends the other fruit and vegetables in the supermarket when the mischievous evil pea gets up to no good in the isles. Supertato always returns him to his rightful place the freezers, because after all,
” some vegetables are frozen for a reason !”
Off on their own little adventures this week your little superhero’s have been in the jelly and water beads trapping the peas and rescuing the vegetables in our sensory tuff tray areas. Making freshly made fish cakes trapping more evil peas.
Saving the teddy bears in the woods that evil pea had tied up in the trees! poor little fellas. Helping Fred Frog with his talking and finding the vegetables and naming body parts, sorting out sizes in maths after Goldilocks had messed things up.
Not stopping there indoor PE they had to save the planet and clean up the rubbish of their gardens, get creative in their mark making by drawing and storytelling. Supporting Supertato on his icy ❄️ travels on the interactive game in ict.
I think these little mini hero’s deserve their hero certificates and a weekend break after all these shenanigans and activities.
BBC iPlayer – Supertato

Next week will be the story ‘ Room on the broom ‘ 🧹 🧙 fitting I’d say as it’s our last week before we finish on the Thursday ( Halloween dress up party day ) 🎃👻
See you there, will the mini hero’s turn into little Horrors?

Grandparents tea party

What a lovely turn out it was for our grandparents tea party!
The children were delighted to see you and get creative with you by making some autumn leaves and decorating biscuits. We thank you for your time and joining us, we hope to do more things like this in the future so don’t worry if you couldn’t make it this time.

The scarecrows wedding

Mighty oaks this week have celebrated Harry and Betty’s Wedding by reading the book and role playing the story. They’ve enjoyed lots of different activities from making their very own scarecrows and exploring the farmyard tuff tray.

On our Autumn walk 🍁🍂 the children explored and talked about the changes in colour to what had grown and fell on the ground, learning all about growth and decay they enjoy throwing and crunching the leaves.

In cooking we made homemade vegetable soup and bread. They were watched while they safety used the knives and vegetable peelers when preparing the vegetables for the soup. Our mini bakers got to work as they learned how to knead and roll the bread dough ready for baking the baps. 🥗

Indoor PE was about learning how to move our bodies on and across different surfaces, from rolling, crawling, jumping, balancing and target practice.

Next weeks book will be ‘ Supertato ‘
please see your child’s Autumn walk video on your evidence me app. More photos will following of other children role playing the wedding, so watch out !
