Healthy lifestyle week in mighty Oaks

This week in Mighty Oaks the children have been learning about how important it is to look after our bodies, from healthy eating to exercising. Outdoors they have took part in the 1k a day on the playground and practice ready for sports day, inside we have taken part in cosmic yoga and just dance games.

Something to make you smile

There are lots of signs of spring at the moment in nursery including lots of nests. We have birds nests in the roof canopy, our bird box and even in our old saucepan! Obviously, we have stopped the children banging on the pan that we usually use in part of our outside music provision.

Eid al fitr

Happy Eid ! Today in nursery we have been talking about the celebrations of Eid. The children looked at a number of resources and videos to help them understand the big event. We have a special little girl Hajrah who talked about the party at home and the sweets for pudding. Her favourite part is when her mommy painted her hands, very beautiful as you can see from the photos.

Red Nose Day

On Friday the children took part in Red Nose Day. They had lots of fun decorating and making super hero mask and joining in cosmic yoga.

Red Nose Day 2022

World Book Day

Celebrating the joy of reading today in our own special way by dressing up as our favourite characters and reading some of our favourite and new books.

We shared together ‘ Toy Story ‘ ‘ Bruno and Titch, tale of a boy and his Guinea Pig ‘ and ‘ This Zoo is not for you ‘

Let your imagination run through books !

World Book Day

On Thursday the 3rd all of nursery will be celebrating World Book Day. Children are welcome to come dressed up as their favourite character. Throughout the day we will be reading some of our books from our new story sacks that children are familiar with and talking about some of the stories they enjoy the most.

Baking Wednesday

We’ve been very lucky to have such a wonderful donation from All Nations Community Grocery this week, a big thank to Miss Azzopardi, Sarah and all the team, who kindly sent in two big bags of ready mix for bread making.

The children really enjoyed making lots of different shapes, animals and insects and getting very messy.

Chinese New Year celebrations

This week Mighty Oaks have been taking part in celebrating Chinese New Year by making lanterns, tasting all sorts of Chinese food and trying some writing written in the traditional way.

In cooking club we made our very own spring rolls, yummy and in forest school they have had a go at stick writing for mark making Chinese words.

All the children have listen to the story of ‘The Chinese New Year’ where they learnt about the year of the animals on the calendar and how the emperor made the decision of a race.

On the farm

Our over arching theme this term is ‘ On the farm ‘ the children will be looking at all different aspects of farm life. This week we have been talking about where the animals live on the farm and their purpose or jobs. We’ve had lots of time to taste a verity of different foods that have been produced from farms. The children are enjoying this subject and have already took onboard what they’ve learnt and used available resources to support their play, especially at our very own Mighty Oaks Farm vets.
