Polite reminder – forgotten items

14.3.23

Dear parents/carers,

We know that things get forgotten, but recently, we seem to be busier than usual with things like PE kits, lunches and water bottles that have been left at home.

Please could we ask that you check carefully each day, as this has the biggest impact on our office staff who are already very busy.

We do have a certain amount of spare PE kit in school, and children can always have access to water throughout the day.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Parent Surveys

Thank you to the parents who have completed the parent surveys so far. Deadline for completed parent surveys is Wednesday 15th March 2023. If you require one, please speak to your child’s class teacher or a member of our office staff

NSPCC Number Day 2023 🔢

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, Newdale Primary and Nursery School took part in the NSPCC Number Day 2023. Every pupil in school had a fun-filled Maths day and enjoyed lots of Maths stories as a spark for their learning. We raised £273 to support the wonderful work that the NSPCC does. Thank you for all of your donations and efforts with the exciting, number-themed costumes that the children were able to show off at school!

Please enjoy this video, show-casing some of the wonderful work that happened across the school 😊

School and Nursery Closure – Friday 10th March

After a hair raising trip from Shrewsbury to Telford and a full site risk assessment with Mr Thomas, I have to make the decision to move to online learning today. Marlborough Way and Rock Road are treacherous and not at all safe. We have already had to rescue one person! I know the forecast is set to improve, but I don’t want an open then closed situation like yesterday as that is difficult for parents to plan around. I have let you know as early as possible. Teachers will be in touch. See you on Monday. Miss Cook.

Year 4 – Snow Afternoon

Hi Year 4,

We hope you are all enjoying the snow and would love to see some photos of your snowy creations and activities! ☃️
When you had finished playing, please remember to fit in a read, practise your spellings and go on TTRS this afternoon.

From the Year 4 Team :)

SEND Provision

Telford and Wrekin Local Authority have recently been contacted by OFSTED and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to say that they will be visiting our area to inspect the local arrangements for children and young people with special education needs and disabilities (SEND) between 16 – 24 March 2023. This joint inspection will consider education and care council services, schools, early years providers, post 16 settings and health providers.

If you have a child with SEND, have your say on the support that they receive within Telford and Wrekin by completing the following survey:

Area SEND inspection for Telford & Wrekin Council (smartsurvey.co.uk)

The surveys are open from now until 9am on 14th March 2023.

Weather update

Morning! ❄️
The weather forecast is still varied depending on which site you look at. We are now making the decision to cancel all after school provision for today. This includes all Crossbar, nursery/school after school club and the Tophat drama club. All teacher led clubs are also cancelled. Parents evening appointments today will be via telephone or will be postponed. Your child’s teacher will let you know. We are still monitoring the situation carefully and will update on a regular basis.
Kind regards
Miss Cook

Water Safety

On Monday, our children learnt all about the importance of water safety from three search and rescue volunteers. Members of the West Mercia Search and Rescue delivered assemblies to teach the children about their role and of the importance of keeping safe near water. They also showed the children their special rescue equipment including their rescue boats.

To find out more about water safety, please can you…

Ask your child what position they should get into if they find themselves getting into difficulty in water (a starfish)

Ask your child what they should do if they see someone in difficulty in water (call for help, do not enter the water, talk to the person to reassure them, use a throw line if confident).

Children were reminded about the importance of staying away from water, unless in a controlled environment, such as a swimming session with adults present.

For more information about water safety, including the option of completing an online course, please visit: https://westmerciasar.org.uk/ or https://www.facebook.com/wmsar/?locale=en_GB
