Year 2 Home Learning – Week Beginning 1st February

Following the parent survey, we will now be posting a weekly timetable each week so you can see what lessons will be planned for your child to complete each week.

*Please note that for the Science lesson on Tuesday, the children will need an elastic band/hair bobble, sponge, piece of paper and plasticine/playdough.  Please do not worry if this is not possible.*

We have also created a help sheet to support your child with their Math learning this week.

YR2 Times tables (Friday 29th January)

Today you have a times tables mystery worksheet. Please help the maths detective track down the missing numbers from the x2, x5 and x10 times tables.

Year 2 Spelling – Friday 29th January

Hi all, today is spelling test day. Yay! Can you please complete your spelling test of the ‘al’ suffix words that you have been learning this week and then email your score to newdale.year2team@taw.org.uk. Good luck!

Next weeks spellings are all words that end with the suffix ‘tion’. Here is a short video of Geraldine the Giraffe talking about ‘tion’ words.

Remember to choose the correct page to practise. Those of you that work with Miss Newport or Miss Jones for spellings need the sheet with 10 words, those of you that work with Mrs Thomas or Mrs Horler need the sheet with 7 spellings and those of you that work with Mrs Fullerton need the sheet with 5 spellings. If you can’t remember which group you are in then just email us at ‘newdale.year2team@taw.org.uk’.

Remember to practise your spellings every day and complete the daily activities that are posted on the website.

Year 2 Home Learning – Friday 29th January

Hello Year 2! 
We are at the end of another super week 😊

There will be two live lessons on Friday, Maths at 9.30am and Geography at 11am.  You should have received an invite for this session however if not, then you can join the meeting through the Teams app. Please come to each meeting armed with paper and a pen to write.

Following the lesson, the worksheets below should be completed.  You do not need to print this sheet but the children will need to see it so they can work out their answers.

If you are unable to attend the live sessions, a recording of the lesson will always be available afterwards.  Worksheets and any further instructions will be shared via the website. We understand that this is tricky for some of you working from home, especially those with siblings so we understand that it is not always possible to join live. We hope the recordings help to support this.

How many times can you trap the mouse in this throwing challenge?

Spellings –You have been practising your spellings all week.  Today ask an adult to help you to do your weekly test and email us your scores.  Good luck!

Year 2 Spelling activity – Thursday 28th January

Hi all,

Todays spelling activity is ‘Spelling Scribble’.

To start you need to draw yourself a large scribble on a blank piece of paper, similar to the one shown below.

Now, using a different colour for each section, fill in the areas using your ‘al’ suffix spelling words (just like the example at the top of the page). Continue until every area has been filled.
