Perspective drawing

Today we challenged the children to draw using a horizon line and a vanishing point to create a 3-D effect.

Exploring music

Today we explored the music of Queen and discussed the essence of their sound.

Creepy Choreography

In PE today, we have started to design our own dances to the iconic song, Thriller. The children used stick figures and symbols to plan their movements to each eight count.

National Fitness Day

Today with Mr Wilcox, Y5 worked on hitting the beat at the right time using Eye of the Tiger.

Exploring Poetry

Today the children read a variety of poems and started to discuss skills poets use to embellish their work.

Chrome books!

It was great to get logged back into times tables rock stars today on the chrome books. Remember to keep practising at home to build your score and become a total rock legend!

Year 5 Music

Today, Year 5 were lucky to have a music session with Mr Wilcox. This term, they will be developing their appreciation of new music and singing as part of a group.

Our focus song today was “Whatever” by Oasis. It would be fantastic if the children could learn the lyrics at home. As an extension, with parental supervision, the children could explore other songs by Oasis, and possibly even explore other Britpop anthems by Blur, Pulp and Suede.

A fantastic start to Year 5

It was lovely to have everyone back in school yesterday and we were really impressed by how ready everyone was to get back to learning.

Yesterday we looked at groovy cityscapes and the children had a go at reproducing the work of Hundertwasser who was famed for his free-hand style and bold colours.
