Year 4s Winter Wonderland 9th December

Winter Wonderland Itinerary

Dear parents / carers,

Following the news of our Winter Wonderland on the 9th December, we wanted to update parents on the plans for the event to ensure an enjoyable experience for all involved. Our ‘Winter Wonderland’ experience will be taking place in Basecamp at the front of school and each child shall be permitted to bring one adult per child to accompany them. Parents are reminded they shall need to bring their own mug if they would like hot chocolate. As the activity will be taking place outside, we recommend wrapping up warm and to wear something festive! The itinerary for each class are as follows;

Mr Jackson’s class

  • 11am Start of session and hot chocolate and biscuit served.
  • Craft Activity and exploration of basecamp.
  • Christmas singalong.
  • 12pm end of session.

Mrs Fenn’s Class

  • 2pm Start of session and hot chocolate and biscuit served.
  • Craft Activity and exploration of basecamp.
  • Christmas singalong.
  • 3pm end of session.

At the end of Mrs Fenn’s class session, children will be required to return to class before being released to parents.

We will be watching the weather forecast closely and we hope that the weather is on our side! Likewise, we will be monitoring the situation with regards to covid and following all recommended guidance. Should we need to make any changes, we will try to let you know as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you on the 9th.

Kind regards

The Year 4 Team.

Y4 Art Day

On Friday 8th October 2021, Y4 will be taking part in an art day, where they will make their own Canopic Jar. Please can children come into school in old clothing due to the nature of the day.

Many thanks,

Mr Jackson and Mrs Fenn

Year 4 Times Tables

Dear Parents and Carers

Following the news of the Statutory Multiplication Check in Year 4, we thought it helpful to explain a little further how children will progress through their times tables this year.

The children are tested weekly on a Wednesday on their current times table where they are to answer 60 questions in 3 minutes.  The children must acquire full marks before moving onto the next stage of their current table. The stages are multiplication, division and finally mixed multiplication and division. Once they have completed each stage they will progress onto their next multiplication table. Their score will be posted in their reading diary on a Thursday and will indicate their current table and stage. Further detail of this process and ways to use Times Table Rockstars is attached to the bottom of this post.

Practise is key with multiplication tables and we would encourage as much support as possible. Children have their page Times Tables books to complete weekly but this can be supplemented with Times Tables Rock Stars, Songs or further practice on paper or in their reading diary.

Thank you for the continued support to your children’s learning.

Mr Jackson and Mrs Fenn
