Water Safety

With the weather warming up and the temptation to go for walks and play outdoors, often looking for spots to keep cool, the risks near water for children can increase.

We know how excited children get by the water but standing too close to the edge can be dangerous. Please look at the attached link with the SAFE message, to Stay Away From the Edge.

It’s never too early to start talking to your children about staying safe near water.

Talk to your children when you’re out and about near water, whether you’re walking or cycling, out on a trip to feed the ducks or look at the boats.

There is a fantastic video and song to help your child learn about water safety and even a downloadable free story book with lovely pictures.

Reception Message

Good afternoon,

Only a couple of days left until the end of half term!

The children have had a great week, enjoying our trip to Wrekin Forest School yesterday. We hope they told you all about it and slept well! We will send some photos out via Evidence Me soon so you can see the day in action.

We wanted to remind you that Mrs Cleobury will be leaving us at the end of this week to begin her maternity leave. We would like to take the opportunity to bid her farewell,  best of luck and of course say a huge thank you for all her hard work with the children. She will be missed, but promises to pay us a visit before the end of the academic year.

Thank you

The Reception team.

Reception Message

Good morning,

We have updated our timetable for this term. Forest school will now be on a Thursday afternoon.
Please wear PE kits to school and bring in a separate forest kit on this day.

However, please note this Thursday (1st May) is class photo day, so for this day only, please can children come dressed in normal school uniform and bring forest kits in a separate bag for the afternoon.

Thank you
Reception

Reception Welcome Back

We are really looking forward to welcoming everybody back tomorrow for the Summer term! We are sure you had a lovely break and look forward to hearing all about it.

We cannot wait to start our brand new topic all about growing this half term and think you will enjoy our new garden centre role play areas.

Please note a change in PE days this term. PE days for Reception will now be on a Monday and Thursday. Children are to come dressed in their PE kit uniform on those days.

Forest School will now be on a Thursday afternoon and separate kits are needed for this.

With the lovely weather, please consider sun hats and water bottles and we also ask you to apply sun cream at home before coming to school. Please do label every item of clothing, as you can imagine in the warmer months, the children may take of cardigans and jumpers when needed. In the event of your child misplacing their belongings, this will help them to be reunited with the correct person.

Thank you for your support.

The Reception team :)

Happy Half Term and farewell Miss Hodgetts.

Wow! Half a year all done of Reception already. ☺️
We are so proud of the progress everyone has made already! You deserve a fantastic rest over the half term holiday. We cannot wait to hear about your break when you come back.

We would also like to thank Miss Hodgetts for all her hard work this year and wish her all the best as she leaves today for her maternity leave. We will all miss you. Good luck Miss Hodgetts and let us know when you have some wonderful news to share 😁

Reception R.E

Next week, we are learning about what a Baptism is. Later in the term, we look at other naming ceremonies too. If your child has taken part in a Baptism, other naming ceremony or religious ceremony that you would like to share with us in class, then please do send in a photograph, along with some brief details about the event. It could be a ceremony they have attended, if not one taken part in for themselves. Ideally, photos to be sent via Evidence Me so that we can keep precious photos safe, but please do chat to us if this is not possible.

Thank you – the children will love sharing their own range of experiences with their friends.

The Reception team.

Welcome Back!

We are looking forward to welcoming you back tomorrow morning and hope you all had a fantastic Christmas break.

A reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday), children in Reception are invited to bring in 1 toy, clearly named (please no electronics or toys with small parts that could get easily lost) for a show and tell session in the afternoon.

Here is some information for the Spring Term:

Wednesday and Thursday – PE. Please can children come dressed in their PE uniforms on these days.

Wednesday – Forest school. Please bring named forest kits in a bag to change into in the afternoon.

Due to the cold weather, we recommend hats, gloves and scarves to wrap up warm at playtime. Please can we ask that all these items are clearly named, along with cardigans, jumpers and coats so that they can be reunited with the correct owner should they become misplaced. We will remind children to look after their things and pop them on their pegs if not on their body, but if you could support this at home with a little reminder to try their best to keep their belongings with them, then this would be really helpful.

Thank you for your support.

Reception :)
