Welcome to Year 1 2024-2025

Welcome to the new term and your new classes in Year 1!

We are so excited to start the year altogether and have lots of fun whist learning new things.

Attached is all the information you need for the new term.

Class intro page Year 1 2024-2025

PE days are Tuesday (Indoor : Gymnastics) and Friday (Outdoor : Multiskills) for Autumn 1.

Forest School will be a Thursday Afternoon, starting Week 2. Please can children bring into school a bag containing some old clothes, a waterproof coat or puddle suit and appropriate outdoor footwear. It is really important that all of this extra clothing is labelled clearly.

In our Class Intro booklet you will find a detailed map of where your child’s new classroom is. The Year 1 children will enter and exit via the steps by the school office.

We can’t wait for you to join us back at school on Tuesday 3rd September.

Teddy Bear Adventures

Recently our teddy bears have been to visit us in school . They helped us to retell the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. We had such a fun adventure taking them to Forest School.

Author Visit

Today we had a visit from Luke Temple an author. We have been learning all about his job and what his job entails. Luke told us all about his story Albert and the Blubber monster. All of Reception performed actions to the story as he retold it in his own words. We all had so much fun.

Reception Bring a Bear

Teddy Bear’s Celebration

This week we have been learning about Goldilocks. Goldilocks is very sad that she has upset The Bears. To cheer them up she would like to hold a Teddy Bear’s Celebration at Forest School. On Monday 14th November, your child is invited to bring in a special ‘teddy bear’ friend from home to join us in celebrating.

Please label with your name so we can ensure your teddy goes home safely. .

Reception PE and Forest School Days

Hi all. We hope you have had a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you on Monday. Please find attached our Forest School and PE days.

Forest School Sessions: Monday Afternoon: Children to bring in their forest school kit and we will get them changed after lunch.

PE Days: Wednesday Afternoon and Thursday Afternoon. Children to come in wearing their PE Kit.

Please note due to the whole school Halloween event we will not be having Forest School on Monday 31st October.

Monday 17th October

On Monday we will be enjoying our Grandparents Tea Party. This will mean that Reception will not be having Forest School on this day.

The Little Red Hen

This week we have been reading ‘ The Little Red Hen’. We have discussed how unkind some of the animals were and we all said we would help the hen if she asked us. Yesterday afternoon we pretended to be the red hen and made some bread. We followed the recipe to make bread rolls and each had a turn mixing the flour, oil and water. We then kneaded it together and baked it in the oven. Today we got to taste the bread and it was yummy.

Last 2 days

A message from Miss Cook.

With only 2 days to go we are happy for the children to wear their PE kits for the last 2 days. Everyone has worked so hard on gaining house points this year, so they all deserve a treat. Plus we know some school shoes are too small and it is too late in the day to buy new ones. We will be applying a strict uniform rule when we return in September. Please share.
