This week we have been reading ‘ The Little Red Hen’. We have discussed how unkind some of the animals were and we all said we would help the hen if she asked us. Yesterday afternoon we pretended to be the red hen and made some bread. We followed the recipe to make bread rolls and each had a turn mixing the flour, oil and water. We then kneaded it together and baked it in the oven. Today we got to taste the bread and it was yummy.

As part of our Stem Week Activities we have been learning how to join a range of materials in lots of different ways ( string, tape etc) and have been creating our own traps in the Forest to catch the Gruffalo. We used all of our skills from our Design and Technology sessions to design them . It was so lovely to see so many different and original ideas.

Today we had so much fun at Home Farm at Attingham. We met Farmer Sam and Farmer Ben who taught us all about the animals they take care of. We learnt about the types of food they eat, what the breeds were and all about their farm. 

Last week we were lucky enough to have a music session with Mr Wilcox. He helped us learn about the beat of a song and we enjoyed using claves to tap out the rhythm.

Today we have been recapping our work on Kandinsky. We remembered that his artwork consists of lots of circles. We used the primary colours red, blue and yellow and talked about the secondary colours purple, green and orange that were created when we mixed the primary colours together. 

We then created our own Kandinsky inspired Snail to represent the Snail from the Snail and the Whale.
