School Christmas Events

25.11.22

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are trying to keep a lid on Christmas for as long as we can so as not to whip the children up into an excited frenzy too early!

We are looking forward to welcoming you to some of our Christmas events. Please remember we have limits on how many we are allowed to have in the hall, so make sure you have checked if tickets are required.

Mr McFarland: 1.15pm – 2.00pm

Miss Jones: 2.15pm to 3.00pm

We are keeping charging for tickets this year as a minimum, as we know times are always tight for everyone over Christmas. Year 1 & 2 have the biggest challenges in preparation as they are putting together a Nativity. We are however asking that parents of children in all other year groups to make a donation at the end of the event.

We plan to use this donation pot to go towards subsidising school trips. We really do understand that the costs of school trips can be substantial. This is why Newdale has always lowered these costs to make it more manageable for everyone.

Thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to welcoming you back into school soon.

Earth day

The nursery will be participating in Earth day on Thursday 20th October and we would value your support in this.  We would love to show children how we can reuse junk to play with and make models.  Please can you start to collect items for junk modelling ready to send in on the 20th.  We would love any clean cardboard (no toilet rolls) and clean plastic such as yoghurt pots.

In addition, if possible can your child wear something green that day.  This could be a hair bobble or sock.  Please don’t feel that you have to go out and buy anything new.

Thank you again for your support

Grandparents

Next week the Mighty oaks children are focussing on the story “Little red riding hood”.  In the story the little girl visits her grandmother.  Linked to this, we are going to be talking about grandparents and would love to see your child’s grandparents.  Please could you send in a photograph, either a paper one or on evidence me, of the grandparents in your child’s life.  We will use these photo’s as a prompt for your child to share stories and memories about their nan’s and grandad’s.

In addition, please share “Little red riding hood” at home with your child to help familiarise them with the story.  You may have the story at home, be able to get it from the library or watch on youtube.  Please talk about the characters, settings and the order of the story to support your child’s vocabulary.

Thanks for your support

Nursery News

28.9.22

Dear Parent/Carers,

It is with great regret that we must inform you that Paula will be leaving our Nursery team next week.

Paula has been a very valued member of our team for 16 years. She has always put her heart and soul into the work she does with our children and families.

We have been busy looking at our staffing structure and can assure you that the high-quality provision will continue in Paula’s absence. We are undergoing a recruitment drive and will soon be welcoming new members to our Nursery team.

Planning will remain very tight with Mrs Curnow (Nursery Teacher) working hard with the team to ensure consistency and support.

I know you will join us in wishing Miss Pugh every success in her future.

Regards

Miss Cook

Treeific Tuesdays

Now that our Mighty oak children are a little more settled in we are excited to start our treeific Tuesdays.  Half of our children will spend the morning in the school’s forest area whilst the other half will stay and take part in a cooking session.  We then swap over for the afternoon.  If your child is heading to the woods please ensure that you send them named wellies in a named bag.  They will need to wear their shoes to come into nursery and wear afterwards when their wellies are muddy.  Please put their names in their shoes to prevent them getting muddled up (some children do have the same ones).  Your child will also need to wear either trousers or leggings on Tuesdays, preferably old ones as they can get muddy, as this helps prevent nettle stings.  They will also need a coat and when the weather gets colder please send some gloves and a hat and scarf (all named).  Nursery provide a waterproof pair of trousers and a waterproof outer coat.  Please see the list below to see what activities your child is participating in.

In the morning

Forest session:  yellow, red and green group

Cooking session:  blue, purple and orange group

In the afternoon

Forest session:  blue, purple and orange group

Cooking session:  yellow red and green group

Your child’s keyworkers are:

Yellow group – Mrs Jo Turner

Red group – Mrs Shelley Giordano

Green group – Mrs Kerry Hall

Orange group – Miss Rebecca Preston

Blue group – Mrs Lisa Curnow

Purple group – Mrs Sarah Ferriday and on Tuesday Mrs Carol Azzopardi

If you are unsure which colour group your child is in please just ask.

Welcome!

Nursery will be reopening on Tuesday 6th September and is very excited to welcome you all at the start of our new academic year!  Can’t wait to meet our new nursery friends and of course welcome some familiar faces back.  Please use the website to keep up to date with any current information and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Nursery Summer Fun

On Wednesday 20th July, we would like to invite parents/carers into nursery for a drink and biscuits to mark the end of term and give you opportunity for you to play with your child in nursery and share their favourite activities with you.

Timings:  10.30am -11.15am for the morning session and 2.15pm -3.00pm for the afternoon session.  If your child attends all day you are welcome to attend either of the visit times. Children who don’t normally attend on a Wednesday are welcome to join us with their parents/carers.

Please use the normal nursery entrances and not the reception entrance.  Sorry,  no mobile phones will be allowed in the nursery.

Thank you
