Mighty oaks show and tell

Mighty oaks parents

Now that we’ve nearly completed a successful week here at Mighty Oaks👏🏻 We would like to get to know your child more. Running along side our family board theme, tomorrow your child will be coming home with a little piece of homework. This will be just a sheet of paper asking about
‘ what I did in my summer holidays ‘
On this you can colour pictures, add photos and do a little write up about what you did and who with.
On returning to nursery they can bring in something special from home or from their holidays ready for a show and tell.
I can’t wait to see your little adventures however big or small. Hearing the children’s recall of such days is meaningful to both them and all of us.

Settling in

What a fantastic start back to nursery 👏🏻 All of the children have done extremely well ! It’s not easy we know for both you and your child and I can imagine how nervous our new parents must have been at the gates this morning sending them in. We’re hoping that seeing their happy smiley faces on the way out has put you at ease.
I for one have enjoyed getting to know some of them today and hearing their stories of what they like to play with, who’s in their family and most importantly what’s their favourite food !
They started their day by settling at their teachers tables with friends, moved on to a lovely cosy circle time with games of getting to know them and their names. Then snack time in their groups followed by child initiated time, where they got to choose what they’d like to play with, the play house and rocket ship was a hit, some wonderful ideas about aliens and their voices 😂
At the end of a very busy day we sang songs and read a story. ❤️

Thank you to all that have sent in photos of your families for our boards. I know some of you are waiting to be set up on the app but don’t worry the board will be on going so your child’s photos will not be missed off there.

Let’s hope tomorrow runs just as smoothly. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your patience with our team learning your child’s name and your faces at the gate. We will get there, promise!

From Mrs Giordano and the team thank you 🙏🏼

Get ready it’s nearly time

Welcome to our new starters and hello again to our children of Mighty Oaks. I’m hoping you’ve all had a good break and managed to get some quality time together. Here at Mighty oaks we’ve been getting the new theme up and running ready for your little ones to enjoy.
It’s called ‘What goes up must come down’ Throughout this topic will will explore lots of different subjects and role play ideas to give the children some insight and ideas of the theme. For example we have a great role play area of space, with a rocket ready to lunch, space suits good to go, writing/ mark making table at the space station and the story of ‘ whatever next ‘ in read, write ink lessons, Where a teddy goes to the moon.
We will look at forces, autumn, vehicles in transport, construction, lots of exciting things!

A reminder of our Treeific Tuesdays where your child will need a pair of wellies ready to go to the outdoor areas of the school grounds. Forest and Base camp.

Everyday, a coat always, spare pair of underwear/ clothes and a water bottle, label please.

Drop offs and Pick up times, gate opens at 7:45 for breakfast club children only

8:30 for the morning sessions and then opened at 11:30 for pick up Gate opened again at 12:20 for the afternoon sessions and just after 15:00 In the past this has helped parents/ Carers with more children to collect from schools and other places. Afternoon session finishes at 3:20 gate will then be closed.

If you are running late please don’t panic, phone the office and your child will be safe in our after school club. You’ll be able to pick them up at the front of the school, reception entrance, this is also where you’ll collect your child from if their in after school club sessions.

More information about our PE sessions will be coming soon with our new rota.

To help us get to know you and your child we are asking if you could send in a family photo, this will then be displayed on our board titled ‘ love you to the moon and back ‘ This is a great way to interact with your child and talk about what’s familiar to them. It’s a great starting point and has always got the children interacting and talking together about who they love, their families. Feel free to send these via the evidence me app or pass them on to your child’s key worker.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon Mrs Giordano and the team.

Measles- Early Years

Measles and the MMR vaccine

You may have read about the UK Health Security Agency’s assessment that a measles outbreak of between 40,000 and 160,000 cases could occur in London, primarily due to low vaccination rates.

In the West Midlands, only 85% of children have had BOTH of their MMR vaccines by the age of 5 years. Over the last few weeks, we have started to see some cases of measles in the region – all are in young unvaccinated children. This is significantly below the 95% MMR uptake rate needed to support herd immunity from measles.

It can take up to 21 days for symptoms of measles to show (incubation period), so an unvaccinated child could have measles without realising and spread the infection – so anyone who has not had at least one MMR and is in contact with a case of measles will need to be excluded from nursery for 21 days after contact with the infected person. Contacts of measles cases should also not be mixing outside their household for that same time period.

Parents should check their children are fully vaccinated with 2 MMR doses, which gives 99% life-long protection, by checking their red book or with their GP practice, which younger and older adults can also do. Anyone not up-to-date should make an appointment as soon as possible.

It’s vital all children and adults catch up on any missed vaccinations and this is especially important if travelling overseas this summer.

Dr Vanessa Saliba, UKHSA Consultant Epidemiologist said:

“Measles can be a serious infection that can lead to complications especially in young children and those with weakened immune systems. Due to longstanding sub-optimal vaccine uptake there is now a very real risk of seeing big outbreaks in London.

Measles spreads very easily but is preventable. To help protect ourselves, our families and those around us it is vital we all ensure we are vaccinated with 2 doses of the MMR vaccine, free on the NHS whatever your age. Parents can check their children’s red book to see if they are up to date or if you’re not sure anyone can call their GP practice. It’s important everyone is fully vaccinated before travelling overseas this summer.

Nobody wants to see their child or loved ones sick with measles, or put others who are more vulnerable, like babies, at risk. I urge those who have missed their MMR vaccines to catch-up now.”

Nursery’s graduation and end of term party 🎉

Graduation and end of term party 🎉
We had a blast and my oh my was it a busy two day party !
The children started the day off by having a photoshoot and showing of their outfits.
Then we had fun and games, colouring competition and dancing in the hall. We have some very impressive movers!
Dance battle was won by the boys 👏🏻🎉 well deserved I must say. The dancing must have given them an appetite as they all loved a ray of party food.

It’s not over yet as we are open on Monday ready for the teddy bear picnic, but we do very soon have to say goodbye to all of our leavers as the embark on to another adventure in their life’s.
Your children have been a pleasure to teach, watching them grow and learn is pure joy!
