Miss Lowe’s Class – Newdale Cup winners

Last Friday our class won the ‘Newdale Cup’ so we can have a treat this week.

On Friday 23rd January Miss Lowe’s class can bring in their slippers/sliders/crocs if they have to change into to wear in class. (this is optional please don’t go and buy new for tomorrow!)

The most important thing tomorrow is that the children can bring one toy/game/doll/card game/action figure (no electrical devices please) and we will have an afternoon to share and play with our favourite toys!

KS1 – Year 1 and 2 Hockey club Monday

We have an exciting club this half term with our hockey specialist TA Mrs Goodwin. She is offering hockey club each Monday to Year 1 and 2 this half term to provide a fun session whilst upskilling children.

There are still a few spaces available and it is not too late to sign up for the rest of the half term. Please see Parent pay for more details.

Hope to see you there!

Year 1 Christmas Craft Afternoon

Good afternoon,

Tomorrow children will still need to wear their PE kits tomorrow.

For the craft afternoon children can bring in a Christmas jumper or hat/hair accessory to wear. We will get them to put these on before the event.

Looking forward to seeing you all and to start our festivities!

Year 1 – Shoes and socks

Good afternoon,

We kindly ask Year 1 parents to support their children in practising how to take off and put on their shoes and socks independently. This small skill makes a big difference during indoor PE lessons, helping us make the most of our time and ensuring a smooth start for everyone. Some children are currently finding this quite tricky, so a little extra practice at home would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support!

Year 1 Plastic empty bottles

On Monday 13th October – Year 1 will be making a rain gauge as part of our science topics.

Please could your child bring in an empty plastic bottle (instead of it going into your recycling) on Monday morning.

Thank you – Year 1 team :)

Year 1 Reading

Good afternoon,

The children in Year 1 have been working really hard so far this half term. All the children are participating in their RWI reading groups each day. We would just like to remind parents that the expectation in Year 1 is a minimum of 3 reads a week and is really important to be reading their coloured RWI books. In particular we encourage them to read their coloured RWI Book Bag book 3 times a week. Reading these regularly supports the children to become more fluent with their specific set sounds they are working on which link to the books they are reading in class.

Please remember to write their reads in the reading diaries as these are checked daily and additional questions are added for children to discuss with you at home.

Thank you

Year 1 team :)
