Monday Phonics

For phonics today please practise your spellings. Remember Miss Hammond is still busy with Busy Bee making her fantastic videos to help you practise your flashcards at home and revise all your sounds. Seb in Y1 had a great idea to put his spellings into his own wordsearch. Perhaps you could try this today with parental help!

 Literacy

Hello Year 1.

This week we are going to be learning all about the seaside and coasts.

Perhaps you have been to a seaside before and can draw on your own experiences. If not, take a look at the PowerPoint attached. Imagine you are there and use your senses to describe what you think you could see, hear, smell, taste and feel.

Can you write your own Seaside senses poem? Don’t forget to include lots of exciting adjectives using your senses to describe the experience.

Attached is a template, but you could design and decorate your very own.

Year 1 Maths Activity – Thursday 14th May

Hi Year One,

You have all been working so hard to practise addition and subtraction this week. Today’s focus is on addition and we will be practising counting on to find the answer. We have practised counting on in school, so maybe you can show your grown-ups what we need to do when we count on!  I hope you can all work your hardest today because tomorrow we will move on to have a go at a slightly different, fun activity!

Today is the final BINGO day before the test tomorrow. Here is a link to the  online BINGO game:

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/bingoOriginal/index.html

You can download the cards via the green button, or if you do not have a printer simply download to your devise and copy out your chosen game cards onto a post-it or piece of paper.

Select the game number you want to play and the BINGO game will pop up. Today we are playing the split digraph game 26, sound u-e. Pull the lever and see what word it pops up. If you have the word on your card, colour it in. When you have all the words coloured on your card, shout BINGO! Who will be the phonics BINGO champion?

Literacy

Today we are learning about the Plants in our Gardens. Some information about this is on the attached PowerPoint. What flowers do you have in your garden? Perhaps you have spotted different flowers whilst on your daily walks? You could research different types of flowers on the internet, with the help of mum or dad.

Shropshire Wildlife Trust – Afternoon Activity

Hello everyone,

As you know, our Science topic in the Summer term is all about planting and growing. The Shropshire Wildlife Trust have been posting lots of fun activity ideas and, luckily for us, tomorrow they are hosting a Facebook Live video all about tree identification that you could do as a family!  Bryony has worked with the children and adults at Newdale before, so I am sure it will be a fun and engaging session! Head over to the ‘Shropshire Wildlife Trust’ Facebook page for more information and to find the video! 🙂 🌳🌲

Make sure you share your learning with us on the Blog – we’d love to hear what you get up to! 🙂
