School update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I understand that you must have so many questions and indeed worries about the news that the Prime Minister announced this week concerning schools. This is a very useful document to read and I hope you find it informative.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/reopening-schools-and-other-educational-settings-from-1-june

We are currently working very hard on our plan around re opening and hope to share that with you very shortly. If you have children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 then please do fill in the form that was sent out this morning to give us an indication as to whether you plan to send your child/children into school or not following half term.

Kind regards

Miss Cook

Year 1 Maths Activity – Tuesday 12th May

Hi Year 1,

We have come to the end of our lesson sequence on place value and we will begin our new topic of ‘Measure’ next week. We are going to use the remaining four lessons this week to recap on addition and subtraction. The work we did on counting and place value last week will support us with this. Today, we will be focusing on understanding the relationship between addition and subtraction.

I really am missing having a go at these maths activities with you all, so today…I would like to set you a final challenge to end your lesson. In school, we often ask you to be reflective and think about your learning. I wonder if you could all think of one important thing you learn in your Maths lesson today and post it as a comment on our Year 1 Homework Blog! Just look for this picture and leave a comment below it!

I can’t wait to hear all about what you have learnt!

Year 1 Maths Activity – Monday 11th May

Hi everyone,

We hope that you had a lovely weekend of celebrations in the sunshine! So many of you have been trying hard to stay active during this time. In school, we like to have movement breaks to keep our bodies awake while we are doing are learning. Here are some animal movement activities that you may like to use when you feel like your body needs a ‘wake up’.

For your maths lesson today… it is challenge day! ⭐ You worked really hard last week to develop your understanding of the place value of tens and ones so I know you are all up for today’s challenges!

Literacy

Hello Year 1.

This week we are having a Science theme linked to our Literacy learning.

Today we would like you to learn about How Plants Grow. Attached is a PowerPoint to help with your learning, but you may like to do your own research this week too. I know many of you have already been busy planting at home, so if you are able to do so and haven’t already you may like to get planting in the garden at home for a real-life experience of our topic. We would love to see your photos of this on the blog.

Can you cut and stick the process of planting in the correct order using the sheet attached? If you do not have a printer, you could create a grid and draw your own planting sequence yourself. You could write sentences underneath each picture to describe what is happening.
