Mr & Mrs Christmas visit Year 1

This morning we had a lovely visit from Mr and Mrs Christmas. They read us a story and we shared our Christmas wishes.

We have all been given an early Christmas gift to take home with us after school.

E-Safety Top Tips – Video Streaming Apps and Sites

Are you aware of how much TV your child is watching and what they are watching?

Now that it gets darker outside earlier, everyone is spending more time indoors and watching a bit more TV.  However it is vital that you monitor what your child is watching, especially when they have access to streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime.  Did you know that you can restrict the amount of time your child spends on Netflix and the programmes they have access to.

For more information please see the parent guides below.

Christmas countdown in nursery

I know it’s such a busy time of year so I just wanted to send a reminder that will hopefully help you in the last few days of term.

Firstly, in nursery we are having something Christmassy every day next week and as of tomorrow Friday 10th.  Please feel free to send them in Christmas jumpers, sparkly tops, Santa head bands and all the usual fun clothes that we wear this time of year.  Don’t worry if you haven’t got any we will be making party hats and so on in nursery anyway.

Our main Christmas events are …

Friday 10th December a visit from Mr and Mrs Claus.  Last day to send in Christmas cards

Monday 13th December our postponed Winter wonderland – please meet us in the carpark. If your child does not attend on Monday’s they are still welcome to join in with you for the duration of the sing-a-long

Tuesday 14th December Nursery Christmas dinner day

Thursday 16th December Party day

Friday 17th December Last day and a few extra party activities and treats

Happy Christmas!

Mrs Lisa Curnow

Year 1 Crafty Fun!

We have been like busy Christmas elves in Year 1 today, making hand puppets as part of our D&T learning. First we had to sew the puppets together using a needle and thread. Then we started decorating the puppets with glue and felt. It has taken a lot of care and time so some of us will need to finish off tomorrow. Once our puppets are finished we will be able to take them home. We wonder if you can guess what animals our puppets are!

Winter Wonderland

Even though our Winter Wonderland couldn’t go quite as planned due to unfortunate weather we loved being able to spend some time with our adults singing Christmas songs and making Christmas decorations.

Thank you for your understanding with the quick change of plans and accommodating the 1 adult rule.

We had a merry time and we wish you all a happy Christmas.

Nursery winter wonderland

Unfortunately, a storm has been predicted for tomorrow’s nursery sing a long in the woods.  We have therefore, had to postpone until next Monday 13th December.  You are invited to attend at the same time as your original slot.  Fingers crossed for Christmassy weather.

Mrs Curnow

E-Safety Top Tip – Parent’s guide to Technology

Has your child made a Christmas wish list yet?

Phones, tablets, consoles and TVs are frequently at the top of Christmas lists,
so make sure to get ahead of Christmas shopping by looking at the Parents’ Guide to Technology to help with the safe set-up of new devices.
