Stay & Share – Wednesday 22nd April

We would like to invite you to our Stay and Share session on Wednesday 22nd April 2026 at 2:45pm.

Please enter your child’s classroom through their usual drop-off/pick-up route:

Reception, Year 2, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 6 – enter via the playground classroom doors

Year 1 and Mrs Everall’s class – enter via the decking area

Mr Stubbs’ class – enter via the stairs by the Visitor Car Park

Playground gates will open at 2:45pm.

Due to limited space, we can only accommodate one parent/carer per child. Please confirm your attendance through ParentPay, so staff know how many parents to expect.

For this event, the children will remain in their classrooms. If you have more than one child in school, you will be able to move between classrooms and spend time with each of them individually.

Please book your place via ParentPay, the event is free to attend. Places to be booked by the end of day Tuesday 21st April.

We look forward to seeing you, and the children are excited to share their learning with you!

Y2 Bake Sale – Monday 27th April

Our Year 2 children are preparing for a very special learning experience. As part of their upcoming science and literacy topics, they will be observing real eggs in school and watching them hatch into chicks. This hands‑on project will give pupils the chance to observe, care for, and write about the chicks as they grow, creating a memorable and engaging learning opportunity.

To help fund this exciting project, Year 2 will be holding a Bake Sale on Monday 27th April, taking place after school from 3:10pm to 3:45pm. This will be on the bottom playground. Families from across the school are warmly invited to come along and purchase some delicious treats. All proceeds will go directly towards supporting the chick‑hatching experience.

Thank you for your continued support. Opportunities like this make a real difference to the children’s learning, and we truly appreciate the enthusiasm of our school community.

Y2 Bake Sale – Monday 27th April

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are hoping to bring our upcoming science and literacy topics to life in a very exciting way. We would love to have real eggs in school, giving the children the opportunity to observe them hatching into chicks. Once hatched, the children will be able to observe, care for, write about, and enjoy the chicks as part of their learning.

To help fund this memorable experience, we will be holding a Bake Sale on Monday 27th April, after school from 3:10pm – 3:45pm. This will be on the bottom playground. If you are able to donate cakes or baked goods, we would be very grateful. Donations can be brought in on the morning of the sale.

Thank you, as always, for your support. These experiences make such a difference to the children, and we truly appreciate your help in making them possible.

Kind regards,

The Year 2 Team

RSHE Parent Consultation

Thank you to the parents and carers who attended our RSHE parent consultation yesterday. As always, we are incredibly grateful for the support shown. We had representation from parents and carers across all year groups, which was greatly appreciated.

Parent Feedback

  • 100% of parents/carers in attendance rated the session as “Very informative” or “Informative”.
  • 100% stated they had no concerns about our RSHE curriculum.
  • When asked how happy they felt about how Newdale is planning to deliver the new RSHE curriculum (on a scale of 1–5, with 5 being very happy):
    • 90% rated it a 5
    • 10% rated it a 4

We received many positive comments about the curriculum and resources shared during the session, including:

“Very appropriate and factual” – Year 2 parent/carer
“It goes into much less detail than I expected and feels very age‑appropriate” – Year 2 parent/carer
“I am pleased my kids can learn this in school properly. I support 100%” – Year 4/6 parent/carer
“Resources are appropriate and very clear” – Year 4 parent/carer
“Vocabulary and resources are age‑appropriate and informative” – Year 6 parent/carer
“Newdale, as usual, have it in hand” – Year 6 parent/carer
“Love that they learn about consent and healthy relationships” – Year 5 parent/carer
“Excellent resources” – Year 5 parent/carer

“No suggestions, just a big thank you for making this easier for parents” Year 3 parent/carer

A small number of additional suggestions were shared via the feedback forms. We would like to reassure parents that some of those areas are already covered within our E‑Safety curriculum and are explored in more depth within the Key Stage 3 curriculum.

For parents and carers who were unable to attend, please be reassured that our RSHE curriculum has been carefully planned in line with government guidance and is delivered in an age‑appropriate way. Our aim is to prepare children for the changes they will experience while supporting their mental health and wellbeing.

RSHE resources have been emailed to parents should you wish to view specific year‑group lessons. Please note that in addition to lesson PowerPoints, there are two video links:

  • One video is included for Year 5 covering puberty
  • One video is included for Year 6 covering conception and reproduction

Thank you once again for your continued support and for trusting that we are working tirelessly to provide the best education for your children—ensuring they are well informed, empowered, and know how to keep themselves safe.

Miss Cook, Miss Macfarlane and Mrs Churm

May Is Get Caught Reading Month!

Throughout May, we are celebrating Get Caught Reading Month — a wonderful chance to shine a spotlight on the joy of reading!

We would love your help in capturing our children in the act of reading. Please send in a photo of your child enjoying a book. This could be:

  • Reading in their favourite cosy spot
  • Reading outdoors in the sunshine
  • Reading to a sibling, pet or teddy
  • Reading something unusual or fun (comics, magazines, recipes, signs, etc.)
  • Reading in an unexpected place — creativity encouraged!

You can either:
– Print the photo and send it into school, or
– Email it to your child’s year group email address

We will be creating a lovely display to celebrate all the wonderful readers in our school.

Thank you for helping us promote a lifelong love of reading! 📖💛
