Year 6 week 1- summer home learning

Over the summer holidays, there is not an expectation that children are to carry on with their home learning; however, if you would like your child to do so, in preparation for secondary school, please check the website weekly for ideas to support your child. Please note that any activities completed on Purple Mash will not be marked by teachers over the summer holidays.

Week 1 Home Learning Y6

Year 6 BBQ

The year 6 had a great time at their leavers BBQ and got quite emotional watching their leavers video. We all wish the year 6 good luck as they begin their new adventure at secondary school!

Year 6 Sportsperson of the Year

A massive well done to both Daisy and Johsh for being awarded Sportsperson of 2020! A huge congratulations!

Year 6 SATs

So year 6…if we were at school today, you would have just walked in to the classroom and would be about to take your first SATs test: something you had all worked hard towards for the past 9 months.

As you can’t do the real SATs, we thought we’d use the acronyn SATs differently this year. Instead, we are going to ask you to Share A Talent that you have with us via email. You were all given your teacher’s email on Purplemash at the beginning of school closure, so please send your entries to this address. You can send in either a video or a photo. It would be great if everyone could send in an entry!

We can’t wait to see what a talented bunch you all are!

Another fabulous week of home learning!

I have seen lots more fabulous work this week and all of the teachers continue to be blown away by how amazing you have all been since school closed!

I would like to give a shout out to a few absolute superstars this week:

Alisha who has completed some fabulous art work linked to Geography
Ella has checked, improved and wanted to re-do every piece of work she has submitted
Daisy, Sophie, Alisha, Ella, Raimonds, Leilani, Adrian, Jacob C for completing nearly all of the work set on Purplemash every day!

Enjoy your break tomorrow and the weekend and I will speak to you all next week!

VE Celebration

Hello Year 6

Tomorrow is VE day and a bank holiday, so we are not expecting you to be online completing work. We want you to have a lovely long weekend and to enjoy the sunshine as we believe it is supposed to be a warm few days!
Speak to you all next week,
Mrs T and Miss C

Do you want to write like Luke Temple?

Do you want to write like Luke Temple? Well, here is your chance…

Luke Temple has contacted school and wants to bring some excitement to your writing at home!
In order to do this, he has made his most popular book, Mutating Mansion, completely free for all of you to download and created an activity pack which contains his secret writing toolbox, which he uses to make his books really exciting.

There is also a competition in the activity pack to win a signed book and a free author visit to our school (there are 3 of these prizes up for grabs). The closing date for the competition is 31st May.

Year 6- work for the week beginning 20/4/20

Hi Year 6

We hope you had an enjoyable Easter break and ate plenty of chocolate eggs!
Your work this week is on Purple Mash. Mrs Thomas and I have set you all a number of tasks: there is a fast 10 for each day and some literacy based activities which we will add to every day, so try to keep on top of this work. In addition to this, please continue to use Read Theory and TTRS.

As a school, we have decided to run subject themed weeks for you to have a go at in the afternoons and this week is Art. Please see Miss Hailey’s post below for a range of activities you can complete. Please upload your pieces on to the school blog because we’d love to see them!

If you are unable to use Purple Mash and would prefer for Mrs T or I to send you some paper based work electronically, please email us and we will send some work over.

Have fun!

Miss C and Mrs T
