Information for Miss McCullagh’s class…

Hello everyone,

We are really looking forward to seeing you all on our live lessons tomorrow.

Please log into your Google Classroom account where you will find all of the information and resources that you need for the coming week.

We are using the classroom called ‘Miss McCullagh’s class’ (not the classroom for both classes that we used over the lockdown period).

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the Year 1 email.

See you tomorrow,

Miss McCullagh and Mrs Goodwin 😊😊

Please read the below message, for parents of children in Miss McCullagh’s class..

14.3.21

Dear parents of children in Year 1,

Just a quick note to try and reassure some parents who have concerns about the positive case in Miss McCullagh’s class. I understand there is some unrest on Facebook and I want to see if we can clarify.

I am in no doubt that the family of the positive case strictly followed guidelines and I know they are frustrated that this happened. As we all know, the virus can be picked up even when following guidelines. I can speak from experience, as I too followed the rules strictly, but alas contracted the virus before half term.

The rules in school are strict, but realistic. We are preserving the class bubbles across school and trying our absolute best to ensure that if a case does come into school, that it only affects one class and does not spread further through school. Cleary we have measures inside each bubble to help. As you can imagine, we can only do what we can do with 30 children and 2 adults in a classroom space. It is impossible to keep them all 2 metres apart all day long. As ever we are following all Government guidance and ensuring children wash their hands and sanitise very regularly.

If you have further suggestions as to what you think we should be doing with some of our youngest learners within the classroom spaces we have, then we would love to hear from you.

One thing is for sure, we dread positive cases and everyone is working so hard to ensure they don’t come into school. Any sign of illness in a child in school, and we send them home immediately. I am very proud of the Newdale teams for going above and beyond in being extra careful and observant.

I hope this reassures you in some way and look forward to welcoming your children back soon. In the meantime I have 100% faith in Miss McCullagh and Mrs Goodwin as they deliver online learning for your children.

If you have any questions then our teams are on hand and happy to help.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

A fantastic first week back and some well-earned challenge time…

Year 1 have made us all SO proud this week – they have all come back to school with a very grown-up attitude and have settled back into our routines so well! They enjoyed some well-earned challenge time this afternoon and loved being able to play with their friends again! We saw lots of super teamwork and great imagination. Well done Year 1, have a super weekend. 🙂

Year 1 – Reading Diary Reminder

Hi Year 1,

Please remember that reading  diaries and any reading books need to be brought into school tomorrow. We will keep them over the weekend and return them to you on Monday with new reading books and next week’s spellings to be practised.

Please don’t forget about using the e-books on Oxford Owl if you wish to do any additional reading over the weekend.

Thank you for your continued support,

the Year 1 team 😊

A fantastic first day back for Year 1…

Year 1 have made us SO proud today! It was so lovely to see how excited they all were to see their friends. They have really enjoyed having a catch-up and settling back into the school routine – it really was like they have never been away! Today, we started our Life Learning unit on ‘Britain’ and thought about ways we can make our school community happy. In Maths, we continued with our work on sharing.

Well done Year 1 – we knew you would all have a brilliant first day back! We are so looking forward to the rest of the term 😊😊

Blue and Green:

Your spelling test for these words will be on 15.03.21 – Good luck! 😊

Welcome Back Year 1!

We cannot wait to see you all tomorrow, Year 1! We hope you are excited to get back into your classrooms… we are really looking forward to seeing all of your smiley faces! 😊

Just a couple of reminders about our timetable in Year 1…

PE will be on Wednesdays (outdoor) and Thursdays (indoor). Please come to school dressed in PE kit on these days.

Forest School will be on Tuesdays. We are going to ask that children come to school wearing their outdoor clothes, rather than coming in school uniform and getting changed (as we have done in the past).  Please bring just wellies and raincoats/ overalls in a bag to put on top of their warm, outdoor clothes when it is time to go to Forest School.

Please don’t forget to bring your school reading books into school tomorrow and remember that you must bring a water bottle every day! 😊

See you all tomorrow!

The Year 1 Team.

Fun in Base Camp 🌳🔥

We have really enjoyed our sessions in Base Camp over the last couple of weeks! We all worked really hard to build dens, identify different birds and design some bird feeders. We even had hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows on the fire.

Year 1 PE Days

Hello Year 1 families,

We are aware that there has been some confusion over PE days. Apologies for any misunderstandings. I can confirm that PE days are:

Wednesday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor).

We have Forest School on Tuesday afternoons.

Sorry again for the confusion!

Many thanks,

Year 1 team
