We are very excited to welcome our Year 2 children back to school tomorrow and can’t wait to hear all about their summer holidays as we begin another fantastic year together!

A few reminders for the start of term: our PE days this year will be Monday and Wednesday. Children will not need their PE kits tomorrow, but please ensure they have them ready for Monday next week!

This Friday, our Kindness Kangaroo will begin her Year 2 adventures! Each week, she will choose a child in each class who has been spotted showing kindness, helping others or being a great friend. The chosen child will take Kindness Kangaroo home for the weekend and use the special page provided to document their adventures together before bringing her back to school on Monday.

As part of our home learning expectations, children should practise their weekly spellings (given out on a Friday, tested the following Friday), complete their maths homework and read at least three times each week. Don’t forget that extra reading can earn additional Dojo points, so keep up the fantastic reading habits!

We also love celebrating birthdays in Year 2! Children will receive a class-made card and certificate from their friends. It is not essential to bring in a treat for the class when it is your child’s birthday and we kindly ask that any treats reflect our healthy eating guidance.

We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow and are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, laughter and success!
