2 weeks ago Posted on 12th May 2026 by Elsa Wooldridge Y2 Florence Nightingale Workshop Year 2 enjoyed an engaging in‑school visit from the Shrewsbury Museum learning team, who brought our recent Florence Nightingale topic to life through a range of immersive activities. The children explored Victorian medical artefacts, handling replica objects from Florence Nightingale’s time and comparing them with modern equipment to understand how hospitals have changed. They took part in lively role‑play activities, acting as nurses and soldiers from the Crimean War to discover how Florence improved hygiene, routines and patient care. Through storytelling and discussion, pupils learned how her work saved lives and shaped the future of nursing. This hands‑on experience encouraged curiosity, teamwork and historical thinking as children investigated objects, shared ideas and asked thoughtful questions! The children loved their ‘Lady of the Lamp’ workshop!
