Nursery Staffing – September 2023

4.7.23

Dear Parent/Carers,

We would like to update you with regards to staffing in the Nursery from September.

We must inform you that Mrs Curnow will be sadly leaving Newdale at the end of this academic year.

Mrs Curnow has been a very valued member of our team for 9+  years and we know she will be missed by both the children, staff and families.

I know you will join us in wishing Mrs Curnow every success in her future.

We have been busy looking at our staffing structure and can assure you that the high-quality provision will continue in Mrs Curnow’s absence.

We will be welcoming Mrs Pablos into the team as the new Nursery teacher from September. Many of you will already know that Mrs Pablos is a current experienced teacher at Newdale and has already been busy working in Nursery to ensure a seamless transition.

We will also have the following staff changes:

Miss Mellisa Hodgetts will be moving from our Ladybugs room to work in the Reception classes from September.

We will welcome Mrs Kay Hawley who currently works in Year 2, to work in Ladybugs in her place.

Miss Kerrie Risk will move from Mighty Oaks to support a key group in Ladybugs.

We will also be welcoming Miss Sofia Ahmed to the Mighty Oaks team as new keyworker in September.

All members of staff are excited about their new roles.

Regards

Miss Cook

After School Club

5.5.23

Dear Parent / Carer of ASC,

We have recently carried out a full review of our procedures for collection of children in ASC. To ensure the highest levels of safety and reduce all risk, we are now going to be asking parents to physically collect their children in person rather than allowing children to exit on their own.  As a reminder, children collected up until 4.30pm exit from the main office doors, while children collected after 4.30pm will need to be collected from the back of the school hall doors.

We are very keen to support all of our working parents which is why our wrap around care opens at 7.30am and closes at 6.00pm.  This level of care is not common across many schools in Telford.  Our breakfast club and our ASC are presently at capacity with waiting lists on record.  It is a challenge for our dedicated wrap around staff to accommodate these high numbers.  As part of this review, it may well be decided that we have to reduce capacity in order to make our provision more streamlined.  We will notify you of any impact this may have as we approach the autumn term.  Clearly, we will continue to do all we can to support all working parents.

School and Nursery Closure – Friday 10th March

After a hair raising trip from Shrewsbury to Telford and a full site risk assessment with Mr Thomas, I have to make the decision to move to online learning today. Marlborough Way and Rock Road are treacherous and not at all safe. We have already had to rescue one person! I know the forecast is set to improve, but I don’t want an open then closed situation like yesterday as that is difficult for parents to plan around. I have let you know as early as possible. Teachers will be in touch. See you on Monday. Miss Cook.

Starting Reception September 2023

  • Parents must apply if their child was born between 1 September 2018 –
    31 August 2019.
  • Parents must apply even if their child is attending a nursery or pre-school
on a school site or they have a child already attending the school.
  • Attending a nursery does not guarantee a school place.
  • If a child has an Education, Health & Care Plan the closing date was
October 2022. Parents should contact the SEND Team immediately if they have not yet applied.
  • School places are allocated in line with oversubscription criteria.
  • See website for more information www.telford.gov.uk/admissions
or contact School Admissions via an email to admissions@telford.gov.uk.

Grandparents Tea Party- Nursery

Grandparents Tea Party – Nursey

Monday 17th October 2022

We are excited to announce that we will once more be holding our annual grandparent’s tea party on Monday 17th October 2022 for nursery children who attend on a Monday afternoon.

We respectfully ask that only Grandparents attend this event. Please could all Nursery Grandparents arrive at either the Ladybugs entrance or the rear garden entrance for Mighty Oaks ( depending on which class your child attends) for 2.15pm where you will then be able to spend 15 minutes in  your Grandchild’s class (if you have more than one child, we will try to gather them all together!).

At 2.30pm you will be invited to come to come to one of our refreshment areas with your Grandchildren for tea and cake / biscuits. We know it is tempting to sneak extra treats for your Grandchildren, but please do not, as we will only have catered for Grandparents. Children will get a biscuit!

Just before home time, your Grandchildren will return to nursery, and you will be asked to leave via the main entrance near the office. If you are taking your Grandchildren home, then you will be asked to sign them out from the nursery before entering the hall.

Safeguarding: please remember that if you are not the usual person collecting, the teacher will need prior notice that you are authorised to collect – this is best noted by the child’s parent in their home school book.

For Grandparents to attend this event confirmation will be needed via your child’s Parent Pay account.

This year we would like to link this event to the launch of our new GATEWAY project.  We are hopeful that some of our grandparents might be able to donate non-perishable food items or toiletries towards this project. These donations will undoubtedly support some of our families in our local community as everyone is feeling the pressure due to the cost of living.

‘Peter Pan’

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to everyone who has purchased tickets for our performances today and this evening.

This afternoon’s performance begins at 1.30pm. We are able to provide a creche for this performance, but where possible please leave young children and babies with someone else if you can.

We need children to arrive back in school for 5.30 pm this evening. The show begins at 6 pm and lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

Unfortunately, we have not got staff available to operate a creche at this performance and we ask that you do not bring babies and toddlers to this show.

The children have worked so hard, under very difficult conditions to create a great show and it is very off putting to have young children who get easily bored and frustrated in the audience.

Thank you for your co operation in this and we look forward to welcoming you to our performances later!

Nursery Summer Fun

On Wednesday 20th July, we would like to invite parents/carers into nursery for a drink and biscuits to mark the end of term and give you opportunity for you to play with your child in nursery and share their favourite activities with you.

Timings:  10.30am -11.15am for the morning session and 2.15pm -3.00pm for the afternoon session.  If your child attends all day you are welcome to attend either of the visit times. Children who don’t normally attend on a Wednesday are welcome to join us with their parents/carers.

Please use the normal nursery entrances and not the reception entrance.  Sorry,  no mobile phones will be allowed in the nursery.

Thank you
