Parent/ Carer Survey

Many thanks to all of the parents who took the time to complete and return a parent survey.  Your child’s name was recorded on the surveys as they were given back to school and three winners were chosen at random.  The winners are:

Mila – Nursery

Logan – Year 5

Kira – Reception

Congratulations! A £50 Asda voucher will be handed to you by your child’s class teacher this week.

The surveys are still being read and analysed by our staff team. Please keep your eyes peeled on the website for a response over the next few weeks.

E-Safety Top Tip – Parent’s guide to Technology

Has your child made a Christmas wish list yet?

Phones, tablets, consoles and TVs are frequently at the top of Christmas lists,
so make sure to get ahead of Christmas shopping by looking at the Parents’ Guide to Technology to help with the safe set-up of new devices.

https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-centre/parents-and-carers/parents-guide-technology

This website has information about phones, laptops, smart speakers, games consoles, tablets and smart TVs so you can research whether these devices would be suitable for your child.

If you need more support or guidance with online safety please contact a staff member or send us an email newdale.primary@taw.org.uk

Covid update 25th November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you can see from the table below, Telford and Wrekin are still struggling with incredibly high rates of Covid.

We are doing all we can in school to prevent the spread of the virus and we really appreciate the support we are getting from parents.

Some parents are getting frustrated when school staff call in order for them to collect their child. This may be because our staff team have spotted symptoms, or if indeed the child tells us they are unwell.

We know it is really hard to find immediate childcare, but we also hope all parents can see that we are only doing this in the hope we prevent further outbreaks across the school community.

We have everything crossed in the hope that all families and staff are not needing to self-isolate over the Christmas period and we will continue to work hard with this goal in mind.

As ever, thank you again for your continued support.

Christmas cards in school

As Christmas comes increasingly closer, your child may be preparing for the annual Christmas card writing session! As in previous years, we will be isolating cards before we send them out. In order for us to do this, the last date that classes will accept cards will be Friday 10th December – no cards will be accepted in after this date. This is to allow the Newdale elves time to sort and send the cards to the correct people!

Children in Need Day

Mighty Oaks celebrated Children in Need today by doing lots of different Pudsey Bear activities. They started their day by listening to the Mr Tumble and Pudsey story online from BBC teaching them all about the importance of togetherness, then they decorated a biscuit with some yummy treats.

Not stopping their they entered our Pudsey colouring competition winners receiving a chocolate treat. Moving towards the end of the day some disco dancing to the Newdale Children in Need video.

Yr 4 Children in need Video

Please watch our fab Yr 4 Children in need video.  It will also make an appearance at around 9:10 pm  this evening on the main Children in Need show.

Covid request – 17th November 2021

If there is someone in your household that has a positive test result, we really need to know about it straight away please. Our staff team very often carryout one-to-one learning sessions with children in their class. These sessions do involve them being in close contact. If they knew there was a positive case in the household, they would increase the prevention of spread measures e.g. by wearing a mask for this session. We had this situation last week and the teacher only found out about the positive case, after the one-to-one session. As you can imagine this can cause unnecessary stress to staff members and can increase the risk of impacting our ability to keep classes operational. Please let us know as soon as you know. Many thanks.
