Story in a Box Competition – Nursery – Y6

This year, we will also be running a competition, ‘Story in a Box’. The children are invited to create a story in a box. All you need to do is create your favourite story inside a box. This will be a house competition – one child from each house across the school will be chosen to win a £5 voucher that they can use in our Scholastic Book Fair. If your child wishes to take part, please ensure your child brings their box in no later than Monday 3rd March. Forms can be collected from the class teacher. The winner will be announced on World Book Day during our whole school assembly.

Mighty Oaks Parent’s Evening

Parent’s evening for children in Mighty Oak’s will be held on Wednesday 26th March between 3.30pm -6pm.  Your child’s keyworker will book a convenient time with you.

Thank you

World Book Day – Thursday 6th March

We are delighted to announce that our school will be celebrating World Book Day on the 6th March. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to explore the joy of reading and to share their favourite stories with classmates. Throughout the day, we will have a variety of fun activities planned, including The Masked Reader, storytelling sessions and a themed lunch.  We encourage all students to come dressed as their favourite book character as well as take part in our, ‘Story in a box’ competition. We look forward to a day filled with literary adventures and fostering a love for reading in our children. Please see the attached letter for more information.

WBD – parent letter – March 25

There will also be a Book Fair taking place in school (14.03.25- 19.03.25), with more information to follow soon.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mighty Oaks

A week in Mighty Oaks ❤️
Throughout the weeks just passed the children have took a visit to our local Morrisons, looking at different colours to find in store and healthy eating. As always the staff were super friendly and happy to show the children around the fish counter. Children really enjoyed the experience of shopping and talking through then tasting healthy foods back at nursery making their very own fruit kebabs.🍇🍓🍒🍉

Stay and play session, where you were able to pop in and have some time with your little ones. This was amazing and we thank you for this time as we know it’s not easy! The look on their faces was worth it. We hope you enjoyed looking around and seeing the environment which is now moving towards a more natural curiosity approach. 🪵🧮
Which moves me onto our planning this week being all obituaries the world around us and our senses. Through the week we’ve talked about the 5 senses and had planned activities where the children can explore these. My favourite had to be the experiments with herbs, spices and ice.

Indoor PE with Mrs Pablos
On the move! Over, under, through and jumping. Using the sports equipment the children were challenged in an assault course to really get their bodies moving in different ways in gross motor skills. Then a nice relaxing cool down with 🧘 yoga

Love was in the air for our last day celebrating Valentine’s Day
Along with ladybugs we did a rotation of activities through both nursery’s and the hall. In ladybugs room the lab was ready with a love potion station.
Ooo interesting smells and ideas from this! Stirring mixing having fun. Fine motor skills with the play dough as they got to work on some love hearts shapes and glitter. 😍🧪
Mighty oaks rooms had threading, love bands, colouring, and making paper flowers. But one of my favourites was the hall were we got to follow a track and dance with instruments and fabric to the song love train 🚂❤️

We hope you have a lovely break over next week and we look forwards to seeing you back on the Tuesday 25th February
From all the team at Mighty Oaks thank you 🙏

A big Thank you ❤️

Mighty Oaks staff wanted to say a big thank you to those that could attend the drop in session last week. Your children were delighted to see you. Hope you all enjoyed the look around and playing with them. Staff really do appreciate the time as we all know it’s not easy.

Curriculum Committee Governors Involvement

The Curriculum Governors met this week. They wanted to check that the girls at Newdale have as much opportunity in sport than the boys. Thankfully this was proved to be the case, and they look forward to talking to a cross section of girls about sport next time. They also put a lens over Geography and Science. Children spoke with enthusiasm and knowledge about both subjects. The Governors also spoke to two key workers and their attached children. It was fabulous to see such positive relationships and the impact of this project on children’s well-being.
