Newdale Celebrates Becoming An Asthma Friendly School!

We are delighted to announce that Newdale has been awarded the Asthma Friendly School Award! This recognition reflects our commitment to supporting pupils with asthma and ensuring their safety and wellbeing in school.

Receiving this award is a fantastic achievement, but maintaining it is just as important—and we can’t do it alone. We need your help to keep Newdale an asthma-friendly school for years to come.

Here’s how you can support us:

Keep an in-date inhaler in school
Please ensure your child always has a current inhaler in school. If you receive a reminder to replace it, act quickly so there’s no gap in protection.

Regular asthma reviews
Book regular check-ups with your child’s asthma nurse—at least once a year—to keep their care up to date.

Provide an up-to-date asthma plan
Share the latest asthma action plan with us so we can respond quickly and appropriately if your child needs help.

Update us on any changes
If there are any changes to your child’s condition, medication, or care plan, please let us know immediately.

Together, we can make sure every child with asthma feels safe, supported, and ready to thrive at Newdale. Thank you for working with us to keep this award—and our pupils—healthy and happy!

Updated EYFS Nutrition Guidelines

Dear Parents/ Carers,

We would like to inform you of an update to our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) nutrition guidelines. From Monday, 3rd November, our Reception classes started having a revised pudding option as part of their daily meals.

Instead of a sweet pudding offering each day, children have been enjoying a healthier pudding alternative of a range of fruit, yoghurt and cheese & crackers. This change is part of our commitment to promoting balanced nutrition and supporting healthy eating habits from an early age.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us provide the best for our pupils.

Year 2 Guy Fawkes Workshop

Year 2 had a fantastic time learning about Guy Fawkes yesterday! The children were fully immersed in an exciting and interactive learning experience as they explored the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.

To bring the history to life, the children took part in a range of fun activities:

Firework Art
They created brilliant firework pictures using chalk, experimenting with colour and movement to make their artwork sparkle on the page.

Costume Photoshoot
The class loved dressing up in different themed costumes and taking part in a photoshoot – there were plenty of smiles and giggles!

Secret Code Cracking
Our young historians decoded special Guy Fawkes–themed secret messages, just like Guy Fawkes and the conspirators would’ve written and decoded in the 1600s.

A Dance from the 1600s
To finish the day, the children learnt a traditional dance from the 17th century. It was wonderful to see them stepping back in time.

The children showed great enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity throughout the day. We are so proud of how engaged they were and how much they learned while having such fun!

Well done, Year 2!
