Year 2 Home Learning – Friday 3rd April 2020

Hello Year 2!

Here are some activity ideas for you to complete today:

We would usually  do our spelling test today in school so ask an adult to do this for you at home.  You could then email your score to your teacher!

For your last lesson on fractions we would like you to complete the work on equivalence of a half and two quarters.  The video to watch can be found here: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ and the worksheet to complete is here:

Maths – Friday 3rd April

Today’s literacy activity is a reading one.

First of all read this eBook called The Bear Who Came To Babysit

https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/the-bear-who-came-to-babysit-ebook-t-e-2548928

(If you cannot access the Ebook from the link above then the text can be read here) The Bear who came to babysit

Then use the text to help you to answer these questions.  If you don’t have a printer you could write the answers out on a piece of paper or in your homework book.

questions

Finally, on Purple Mash we have set you a 2do about your ambition.  What is your ambition? What would you like to achieve?

We have also set some Times Tables games for you to play on Purple Mash.  Or you could challenge Miss Rouse or Mrs Horler to a times tables battle on Times Tables Rock Stars. I wonder who will win?

Please keep up your hard work for one more day – it is the Easter Holidays soon!

We hop you have a wonderful day,

Miss Newport and Miss Jones 😊

Year 2 Home Learning Thursday 2nd April

Happy Thursday! Here are some activity ideas for you to complete today:

For spellings we would like you to create a word rainbow! Write your spellings out in as many different colours as you can.  Share your pictures on the blog!

Well done for all of your hard work on fractions this week.  We have enjoyed seeing your Maths blog posts – please keep them coming! Today’s White Rose lesson is about non-unit fractions.  The video to watch can be found here: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ and the worksheet to complete is here:

Thursday – Non-unit fractions

Today’s literacy activity is an adverb quiz found on purple mash.  Remember that an adverb is used to describe a verb ( a doing word).  For example, She quickly ran to see what was making the strange noise, the baby cried loudly when he woke up.  As an extension activity, could you write your own sentences with adverbs in them?

And finally, we would like you to make an Easter poster or poem.  This activity can also be found on Purple Mash.

Keep up the hard work everyone, we are very proud of you all!

Miss Newport and Miss Jones 😊

Home Learning Year 2 – Maths w/c 30th March

Alongside the activities we have been setting on Purple Mash for maths, we thought it would be a nice idea to try using the White Rose materials. These have been specifically prepared for parents and children while the schools are closed to help continue with studies at home.

Each day you need to watch the video first at:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

(We are starting from week 2, as week 1 has already been covered in school).

Monday Lesson 1 – Recognising a third

Tuesday Lesson 2 – Find a third

Wednesday Lesson 3 – Unit fractions

Thursday Lesson 4 – Non-unit fractions

Friday Lesson 5 – Equivalence of a half and two quarters

Answer the questions which are on the worksheets (see links below) – you can print this out or complete in your homework book or on a piece of paper. You can then upload a photo of it to the homework blog for us to see.

Please e-mail us via Purple Mash is you have any problems.

Best wishes,

Miss Newport and Miss Jones

Picture News

Well done for completing your first week of learning tasks at home. We are all so proud of you and we have received some super blog posts and Evidence Me entries. We really enjoy seeing what you have been up to and the hard work you have been doing.

We normally use picture news in our class assemblies at the end of the day. This week I will post it here for you to have a look at.

First look at this picture and talk about it with your family. What’s happening? Where are they? Why are they doing that?

Then you could have a go at filling this out

Information for the parents of children with SEND

Please see the following message from Vicky Ford MP for the parents of children with SEND, particularly those that have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP).

As ever, the document is asking Parents to consider whether their child’s needs can be met at home safely. This is to keep as many children as possible at home during this time to help reduce the transmission rates of Covid 19.
