Reception Star of the Week 💫

Well done to Ollie for being our star this week. He has worked really hard both at school and at home! He has followed the BSMART code and has been a wonderful role model to everyone. 😊

Reception Stars ✨

We would like to congratulate all of our wonderful new Reception children for completing their first full day week at Newdale.

They have already learnt so much about the routines of big school. They have been working hard in phonics, Number work as well as practising how to share and take turns and painting. We’ve been on our jungle gym and used the bikes. We look forward to sharing photographs with you soon (we are just waiting to ensure we have everyone’s correct photo consent).

Well done everyone. We couldn’t possibly pick just one star of the week this week, so we have awarded everybody with their own special certificate! 🤩
Have a lovely weekend. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Well done Reception 👏🏻

We would like to say a huge well done to all of our children who joined our Reception classes this week.
They have so much to absorb as they learn all about their new school and the new routines.
We have all been so impressed with their independence coming in to school. We even received a special message from their new Lunchtime Supervisors to say how well they had done with their first lunch together in school and what lovely manners they all had.
After a tiring week, have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday morning.

Welcome to Newdale Reception 2022

Welcome to Newdale Primary School.

We are all really looking forward to welcoming everyone into Reception for their first day of school, either for their morning or afternoon session on Tuesday. We know you will be so smart in your uniform and will have such a great time catching up with or making new friends.

Please find attached an information sheet. It shows you the staff working in our Reception team, along with a map for entry and exit details for your new classroom, PE and Forest school days. We hope you find this helpful.

Below is the link to our virtual classroom tour sent previously. It might be comforting to watch this again with your child prior to their first day, to remind them of what their lovely new classrooms will look like. Art Club 🎨

Today was our last art club session.
Today’s club was inspired by a story! Julia Donaldson’s ‘Paper Dolls’ tells the story of a little girl who makes her own paper dolls, each with their own name and unique features, and the adventures that they have together. After we listened to the story, we made our own paper dolls. Fantastic cutting from all, as well as some beautiful designs. What adventures have your paper dolls had at home?

Art Day in Reception 🎨

We loved art day today. Everyone dressed for the occasion.
We learnt about the British artist Bridget Riley and then created a masterpiece inspired by her style. We loved looking at her artwork. It played tricks on our eyes and some made us feel dizzy! We also enjoyed time to paint freely. Such a fun day.

Reception’s first trip to Home Farm at Attingham.

We had such a great day. We were so excited to go on an enormous coach all the way to the farm.

Farmer Ben gave us some special animal food and gave us a guided tour all around the farm. We learnt about the different animals.

We enjoyed our picnic lunch outside and a run round in the park.

We know a few children missed our first trip due to chickenpox or illness. We missed you and wish you well soon. We do have some more lovely things planned in soon that you will get to enjoy.

Reception meet the Chicks 🐥

Today we met the baby chicks visiting school at the moment.

We each took turns to hold the chicks, stroking them very gently. We talked about how their fluff will soon turn into feathers and how they will grow and change.

HLW healthy minds in Reception

To complete our week of Healthy Lifestyles, today we focussed on a healthy mind!

We completed mindful colouring listening to calm music, practised deep breathing exercises (ask us about the smelling the flower and blowing the leaf technique), and we also went to relax and watch the clouds pass by, looking at the shapes they make.

Such a relaxing day in this glorious weather.
