Last letter of 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

We would firstly like to thank you for all of the support we have had over this tricky period. It has not been easy and despite our best efforts, we have had to deal with a very small number of cases in school this term. Our number of cases is relatively few in comparison to many other schools and we know that our partnership working with you, the Health Protection Hub, the Local Authority along with our strict procedures have helped to keep this figure so low.

Should your child(ren) develop symptoms or have a positive test on either Friday 18th, Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th December then you MUST let us know. Could you please do this by using the following email address newdale.primary@taw.org.uk, this will be monitored over that period by two members of staff who remain on call or alternatively calling the school office on 01952 387720.  The school number will be diverted until 6.00pm on 24th December.  Please only call this number to report symptoms or a positive test and not for general enquiries.

If your child(ren) develops symptoms or tests positive outside of this time period (Monday 21st December onwards) then please use the NHS Track and Trace system and you do not need to let us know, unless they are continuing to self-isolate once we return on 5th  January. This is because it will have been longer than 48 hours since they were in school and will therefore, not affect any other staff or students. Please note as of Monday 14th December, the isolation period is only 10 days.

Thank you for your continued support with this and I sincerely hope it will not be needed for any family over the festive period. I hope you all have a well-earned rest and have the opportunity to spend it with loved ones.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the staff at Newdale primary School and Nursery. We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 5th January 2021.

Miss Cook

T&W message from Santa

Telford & Wrekin Council have had a special video produced for the children of Telford and Wrekin. It’s a message from Santa himself and we thought you might wish to share this with your classes or perhaps in any emails you send out to parents.

You can view the video on YouTube here https://youtu.be/fgtCkyIcpIk

We hope this brings some joy to those who see it. Please share with everyone you can.

Key found

This key was found on Friday 11th December outside the school gates on Marlborough Way. Please call the school office, if you believe it to be yours on 01952 387720.

E-safety Top Tip – Internet connected devices

Has your child written their Christmas list yet?

I’m sure they have included a few Internet connected devices, such as:

  • smart speakers, for example Google Home and Amazon Echo
  • wearables, for example a Fitbit and an Apple Watch
  • toys with voice or image recognition, for example Hello Barbieâ„¢ and Furby Connect
  • robots, drones and other mechanical toys, controlled via an app, such as Dash and Dot.

All of these items would make great Christmas gifts and are useful to have around the home.  However, many parents don’t realise that internet connected devices have the same risks as devices like smartphones and tablets. These risks can be more likely to happen if the devices aren’t used or set up properly.

For ideas and tips about how to keep your family safe with internet connected devices, visit the NSPCC website.
