Family Lunch – 19th July

Family lunch will take place on Wednesday 19th July.

To try and eliminate the queues on the day, we are going to trial parents bringing their own lunch (sandwiches) no takeaways e.g McDondald’s.

Pupils will order their school meal on the day as normal. The hot meal for that day will be beef burger.

Further information regarding arrival times will be confirmed closer to the date.

Art Day – Friday 14th July

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are excited to be holding another whole school Art Day, on Friday 14th July.

This year, our focus will be on nature and the local environment and we are excited for local artist, Rob Leckey to join us on the day to work with groups of children to produce a new piece of art for our school. The children will create art centred on their classes chosen artist and they will be focussing on a particular art style, as well as using a range of mediums including painting, printing, and drawing.

This year, we would again love to invite the children to ‘dress to express’ in their most creative clothing, but as you can imagine, this may get messy, so please send your child to school wearing old clothing, or a large t-shirt or apron to wear over these clothes!

It looks to be a very exciting day for everyone involved and we cannot wait to see what everyone creates!

Kind regards,

Mr McFarland

Governors involvement within school

Governors from the Finance & Personnel met yesterday and were thankful to a Grandma of a child in reception who came to talk through the induction process. She reflected positively in that the induction process is personal to each child. She felt the information she gained before her granddaughter started school was clear and concise.

A cross section of children came to talk to governors about their understanding of British values and the BeSMART code. Children could confidently articulate their understanding and how the values relate to their life, school and wider community.

Governors met with the After School Club lead and was reassured that the range of activities and snacks on offer is of high quality. Governors were happy that the After School Club with continue to facilitate trips and events in and outside of school. They approved more investment into new resources for the club.

Dressing up clothes needed

Our afterschool club provision is in need of children’s dressing up clothes. If you would like to donate any old dressing up clothes you have at home, please drop them off at the office. Please can we kindly ask that any items donated are of a good condition and washed beforehand.

Many thanks

W app

It has been brought to our attention that some children in school have signed up to an app called ‘W app’. W app is designed for children to engage in anonymous polls within their school community. The app has some e-safety risks due to it requiring children to share their personal information, including their school’s name. The nature of the app also has the potential to cause upset amongst its users and other children in school.

Please regularly check your child’s online activity.  It is also important for children and young people to be aware of what they are sharing online and who might see it.

If you need more support or guidance with online safety, please contact a staff member or send us an email newdale.primary@taw.org.uk

Safeguarding, H&S Governors

Governors met with children and discussed their experiences regarding the recent Healthy Lifestyles Week.  It was very evident that the children thoroughly enjoyed the experiences. Governors questioned the learning outcomes of the event and were impressed with the children’s answers as to what they could improve on personally following the week and what they have learnt.

Governors approved and scrutinised a number of safeguarding policies. Governors carried out an audit and were again satisfied that their understanding about policies and procedures regarding safeguarding is robust.
